Been kicking this around for a while, thought I’d toss it out and see what y’all think.
I’m going to Atlanta at the end of the month-- June 28 through July 2, to be precise-- for a big assed sci-fi and fantasy convention at the Hyatt Regency (and Apparel Mart). I don’t know at the moment exactly what our schedule will be, but if anyone in the area wants to pop into the city for dinner near the hotel, let me know! I’m somewhat limited in how far I can go 'cause even though we’ll have a rental car, I don’t drive-- but, last time I was there, there was a nice selection of touristy spots to eat in.
Have a dandy time whilst you are here. Maybe a lunch during the day would work? You will be staying about 3 blocks from where I work. I know there are plenty of other Atlanta Dopers, so we might be able to build a groundswell of support.
Lunch would certainly work just as well for me. Let’s see who’s interested; I haven’t yet been able to make it to an NYC Dopefest (I always end up working!) and this little jaunt down south is about the only time I know I’ll be free all summer!
I do not work or go downtown that much, so Mullinator is there a Marta stop close by? I can ride Marta down for lunch or maybe a get together in the evening one evening.
…but, I seem to recall from the last time we went to DragonCon that there is indeed a Marta stop nearby. Not exactly sure though, as we ended up not needing to use it…
I suspect since it’s kind of short notice, and a holiday weekend, that any gathering is likely to be pretty small (not that I’d mind meeting more of you!). So, if anyone’s interested, please feel free to e-mail me directly at the address in my profile.

I was just talking about DragonCon with a friend of mine last night. He’d just gotten back from Maryland’s Shore Leave (a Trek Con, though they have B5 guests a plenty) and I was saying how I had been too broke to even crash on the floor last minute.
I want to go to DragonCon but I’m pretty sure I can’t. Things have changed with the people I went with last year (I’ll spare the gory details, but one of them is treating the other one like absolute crap and the other one is just tolerating it and as a roundabout result we aren’t keeping in very good touch these days). I know some other folks who would probably go, but the money thing is an issue as is how we’d get down there.
This may be the first year in a long time that I’m not making it to any conventions… I’m gettin’ all sad and stuff
Anybody want to try and build a DopeFest around this thing? Or will it just be a GeekFest? As long as it doesn’t interfer with my Claudia and Marcus and Jeffry leering, of course.

Well, now that I see Simetra is also coming, presumably with a contingent of BamaDopers in tow, I’m wondering if I should host a little get-together at my house, which is only four or five miles from the con hotels. I can put out beer and food; and put MST3K on the DVD player. Y’all can meet the cats I’ve mentioned in various threads, and see the actual computer I post from home in my underwear from!
I won’t be attending-though I do wander through Peachtree Center on an almost daily basis, unless I get this job I’ll be interviewing for.
Montrealdope, Bamadope, and an Atlantadope all in one summer? Naaaah, impossible.

I haven’t been to a con in far too long, and this one’s going to have half the B5 cast, it seems. It hasn’t even been a year, but God I love that show.
But I don’t think I’ll have time to leave the hotel for much, what with it being my first time and rooming with veterans. I suspect they’re going to keep me hopping.
