I’m on travel for work, currently sitting in an airport, typing on a tablet. I needed to ‘pipe in’ to my office’s server for some admin stuff, but the end of the fiscal year has me locked out of those admin functions.
So, I’m here, perusing threads, impressed with some of @Beckdawrek 's, wishing I had that kind of inspiration, but I don’t. In the back of my mind, I’m also formulating a list of chores I gotta get done this weekend after being gone for two weeks (aka the “Honey-Do” list).
So, welding together those two ideas, in one of the most mundane thread ideas I can cough up, I gotta ask: What are you going to do this weekend?
Me:
[ ] Clean cat litter pans/mats
[ ] Clean cats’ “bedroom”
[ ] Schedule tire replacement for pickup truck
[ ] Call Mom
[ ] VPN into work desktop to download/triage email
That’s some serious, action-packed stuff this weekend. How about you? Is your weekend gonna be as high-speed/low-drag as mine?
Tonight (Friday): go to a local tavern where my friend’s band is playing. Have a couple drinks and eat pizza.
Tomorrow: attend a car show on the streets around the Central branch of the Public Library. Then go to the Hispanic festival in a nearby neighborhood and eat some tamales and hopefully see a few low rider cars.
Sunday: attend a Pride Festival in a park near my house, which includes a funky little parade.
I’m planning on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at the local horse racing track. Heck, I’ve got all I need to do this week done, so I may just head off to the track today also.
Cut grass (just finished, yay me). Tonight going to Helltown Brewing (zip code 15666) for delicious beer and their hopwater. Our friend Billu will be there selling Indian cuisine from his truck. He will make mine extra spicy and I’ll buy him a beer.
Tomorrow I have to mow around the pond. In the evening going to a winery to see a funk band. Bring on the funk! Gotta have that funk!
Sunday is our monthly brewery fun run at Leaning Cask Brewery. My gf runs the 5k course with Kizzy. They’ll finish in the top 3. I “run” (brisk walk) the one mile course. As is our tradition, I’ll get in my gf’s face about beating her and not even being outa breath. At some point someone eavesdropping will say, hey Waitaminute, 5k is longer than a mile. I’ll argue bullshit, it’s that metric conversion thing.
My mother in law is in town from out of state. We had lunch, we’re going to pick up my kid, and then we’re getting ice cream and coming home to hang out.
Tomorrow I’m taking my kid to swim lessons and then we all might go to the Zoo.
There’s probably going to be a lot of staring at electronic devices.
My daughter and her son are coming over on Sunday. I’m making green chili stew (with braised pork shoulder) and she’s bringing a pan of cornbread. Good fall weather food. Other than that, I’ll be the lazy git sitting at his laptop.
The usual chores: groceries, library, laundry. Also my son, his fiancée, and their children are coming for dinner. It’s his 27th birthday. I’m thinking shrimp and cheese grits.
My wife had hall 4 of her wisdom teeth removed yesterday and so far her recovery has been completely uneventful. However the doc ordered her to take it easy over the weekend and limit driving so I’ll be staying at home doing absolutely bupkis just in case she needs help with anything. Which she probably won’t, but just in case. I might clean the bathroom and do my laundry as well as start making my Christmas to-do list (it’s my OCD, don’t judge) but that’s as much as I’m kind-of committing to.
Tonight is pizza and margaritas. Already watered all the plants and changed a litter box. The weekend will be devoted to adulting, ie dishes, laundry, more cat boxes, sweeping, refilling all the hummingbird feeders, etc.
Just peggin’ out the Fun Meter here at Casa Silenus.
Oh! Also we’ll go to the gym. We’ve recently restarted that. We only go once a week, and don’t over-exert ourselves, but it’s mentally beneficial if nothing else.
I’m having new windows installed in a couple of weeks, so I’m cleaning in places that haven’t been cleaned in years. And since it’s finally scheduled, and it’s gotten cooler, I’m going to take down window coverings.
Also, go through the mail, pay any bills that are due. (exciting, huh?)
Other than that, pet the cats and read/play on the tablet.
