Well, I made it home safe last night, rollin’ into town at nigh on 2200 local.
I wish I’d had some 'za last night. Would’ve made the drive a little less boring.
FTFY.
Where’s this then? This looks kinda fun–better’n the tired ol’ Albuquerque and Santa Fe ones.
Well, I got the email triage done. Now for the “real fun.” I have to admit that sometimes when I clean the litter pans, I flashback to Raiders of the Lost Ark with Indy sifting sand in front of the Hovitos’ idol.
Tripler
" . . . if only my cats spoke Hovitos."
The RCCC and Orycon are both in Portland, Oregon.
The run-up to Yom Kippur means getting enough of the eating and the drinking and and the brushing of teeth and the showering of body and the rest out of the way as close to an hour before sundown on Sunday as possible, but it also means getting any Monday-type stuff squared away before that, and so that means getting Sunday stuff squared away today, and so — yeah, it’s just mundane tasks and a ticking clock, is all.
We’ve been in the outer bands of Ophelia since last evening. It’s been raining on and off all day, and according to NOAA, the eye will be close to, if not directly over, our house tomorrow morning.
So far, my weekend has been mostly spent in my recliner, knitting and crocheting while binging The West Wing. I predict much the same for the rest of today and into tomorrow.
Fri afternoon was an epic solo lunch out, then dinner was leftovers at home w the woman-unit followed by reading the internet. Being older can be real exciting at times.
Sat was Doping, picking up drycleaning, a flu shot (no adverse effects so far 8 hours later), then 4 hours spent at a kiddie carnival w Wife, Daughter, and her 5 kids (1 adopted, 4 foster).
I got to push the 4-place stroller, feed the 1yo, chase the 2yo, carry the 3yo, and entertain the 11yo. Not all at once. I left the newborn to the ladies. I also got to take lots of pics of them all having fun. With toddlers, “eating” is one of those theoretical concepts where some goes inside, but most finishes on their clothes or face, the 11yo excepted. Of course all the best carnival food is very neat and clean to eat. NOT!!1! ![]()
Four hours standing with just some very slow walking. Happy to be seated at home now while, yes, Doping again. Temps were mostly in the 80s, but with a high overcast to reduce the bright sun. Still sunburnt my face; oh well. Got home 30 minutes before the rain arrived with a vengeance. Better that than 30 minutes after. Now at 6pm w rain cleared out, considering a short walk to a nice grown-up dinner.
Sun has a tentative appointment for a COVID vax if I wake up not already draggy from the flu vax. Had I not fried my face I might have gone to the beach. Not sure about that now; we shall see.
I cleaned out my gutters using a friends new 17’ ladder. And I lived to tell about it. It was getting iffy when the ladder started using a porch rail as a fulcrum.
Went to a festival with antique tractors. Fixed the central air with a $10 part. Stopped at a hydration station and celebrated fixing the central air with a $10 part. Went home and relaxed in an unnecessarily cool house and watched football.

My weekend be rockin’!
Drove 100 miles (one way) to get my car serviced. I’m now 100 miles away from home. I’m trying to get my cousin to let me help her paint her bedroom. She is having back surgery in a couple of weeks and is barely mobile. But she has a new bed ordered. She is currently sleeping in a chair (long story).
I’ll be taking care of her for a few days after the surgery. I can sleep at my mom’s house (she has passed on, I’m taking care of the estate). It’s only 10 minutes away from my cousins.
I can work from Denver, but I need to be home. My septic system is being replaced, I sort of need to be there for inspections and stuff.
I leave to drive back home at 5am Monday.
If it wasn’t for my #Q%@! septic system. I would stay down in Denver for a few more days.
Do you have to worry about getting low altitude sickness if you spend too many days at Denver’s low altitude? ![]()
No, but oddly my Wife went to Denali National Park Alaska to work for 6 months (before we met). She came home to altitude and got altitude sickness.
Denali NP is not that high. Unless you climb the mountain of course.
Guests… have problems at my house.
Low altitude sickness… I know that’s a bit of a joke. But people say that oh, hey, you are so used to thin air, that you will be doing great at lower altitude. It doesn’t seem to make a difference. That’s coming from my Wife who is an IronMan, and I as her Sherpa. But those days are over.
Oh… Low altitude sickness comes from Margaritas, and sand.
Living as I do at about 2’ above sea level (when the tide is low), that’s my usual story.
Thanks for the interesting anecdotes.
Well we were supposed to go to the Zoo since Grandma’s in town.
But my husband still wasn’t feeling well today. God I have been going stir crazy. But I managed to get some chores done, give my kid a bath, make tiny progress on a very hard puzzle, watch the season finale of Strange New Worlds and eat cheesecake. So I guess it could have been worse.
A 1919 International harvester Junior. Something like this.
Well, @Beckdawrek , I hit one for you today. It paid all of $2.40, and that’s in Canadian dollars. If you really, really really want your winnings, I’ll send you a bank draft in the amount of US$1.78. Plus the cost of the American dollar bank draft, which will be C$7.50, or US$5.57.
Why don’t we just say we had fun, and let it go at that? ![]()
This coming Saturday I have a refresher course for curling instructors.
Great time!! The band really goes overboard with the funk. Matching attire, a horn section, smoke machine, etc.
Great weekend! I walked a very brisk mile Sunday morning, beating Kizzy and my gf who ran a 5k. As always there was someone who felt it was necessary to explain to me that 5 kilometers is more than a mile as I told my gf I beat her.
