Looks like I get a day off – no work, no chores, nothing pulling at me to get done – and I’m paralyzed with indecision. What should I do? The world is my oyster! Assume “cure cancer” and “invent the next new videogame” aren’t real options (it’s only a day, after all), but give me some ideas. How should I spend my time?
Well, tonight (Saturday) I’m singing in a concert at the Opera House. Tomorrow I’m going to what’s billed as a “spring garden party” to celebrate a friend’s 40th birthday.
I’m going to do some hiking on the Appalachian Trail in PA, the weather looks good for it. Fresh air! Sunshine! Nature!
Well, I’m working (Sat) and going to a wedding (Sun) so I suspect my plans aren’t going to be much use to you…
Good luck with whatever you find.
Two test are on monday in physics and molecular biology so I have to study. I have calc III homework (calculus sucks) due monday and I have to do some work in the lab.
I have to play Mega Man Command Mission.
Well, I better get started.
I have a test Saturday morning, but other than that, my weekend is free.
Laundry.
I’m a featured speaker at a teacher’s conference on Saturday. On sunday we are driving up the coast to go to a wedding. Spend the night and then back home.
Next week is VACATION!
Saturday morning my oldest daughter is refereeing two soccer games and the youngest has a Scottish highland dance class then we’re off to oldest daughters soccer game. Sunday is a little quieter with only a soccer game, I may do some web work for the soccer club after the game.
Heh.
#1 Finish fixing the leak in our shower drain. Gonna have to run into town for parts. Thought I had everything. A 10 minute job looks like it’s going to take most of a day.
#2 Catch a pack rat that seems to have made a home in our loft/computer room/attic. I just set a live trap. Peanut butter and shiny coins. I hope that we get him tonight.
#3 Empty out the attic and get rid of all the little rat turds.
At this point, I’ll be just about where I started from a month ago.
We had 28” of snow last weekend. I had kinda hoped to get a few other things done before winter set in since the early snow has already put me a bit behind. Life marches on.
After my cat-feeding chores for an out-of-town friend I’m going to “Help the Hooch” - volunteers clean along the banks of the Chattahoochee River. After a couple of hours of clean up, we all go to Golden Park for hot dogs and T-shirts. Then its over to the Civic Center (aka the Snake Pit) for the first day of training camp for the Cottonmouths. Then off to a “Ladies Night Out” dinner.
No plans at all for Sunday, tho.
I’m taking PSATs tomorrow. I wasted my precious money, $28, and I will waste a good three hours of my Saturday.
:smack:
We’ll be going to the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival!
I’m the board operator for the Fall Membership Drive at the radio station. Ten hours of time and a half, baby!
I’m going shopping. My lone pair of sneakers is due for replacement. I think I may just go wild this time and buy two pairs.
My boyfriend has guilted me into going miniture golfing tomorrow. I’ve been able to avoid it for avoid it for 4.5 months. I think it’s time to cave in.
Maybe on Sunday we’ll go bowling at my school’s student union.
“Oh, the usual. I bowl. Drive around. The occasional acid flashback.”
Heh. Seriously, I was just asking that question of myself, given that I took today off (I had the time in and decided to take a mental health day in lieu of walking into work with a crowbar and a box of dynamite and blowing up the &*#$%@ server) and did…utterly nothing except watch a film (Master And Commander: The Far Side Of The World) that I’ve already seen and respond, do some dishes, and respond to a couple of threads. Maybe I’ll go mountain biking before the winter rains hit, or head down to Los Feliz and spend the day watching screenwriters and would-be actresses drink coffee at Psychobabble, or go browsing at the bookstore, or have lunch at Fred 62, or hang out at the beer garden at Red Lion. I could take the culture tour of Los Angeles that I’ve been avoiding for the last three years, but that would only take up the first fifteen minutes. clash
Or I could develop my comprehensive theory on quantum chromodynamics, writer the corporate culture counterpart to Catch-22, run a marathon, find a girlfriend, discover a cure surefire cure for Athlete’s Foot, diagnose and fix the squeak in my front right brake, and decorate my apartment in a fashion that doesn’t look like, “Hey…just moved in, huh?”
Yeah, right. I’ll be lucky to make it through a couple of chapters of Don Quixote and not spend all day reading the SMDB. I might fix my brake problem, though. That would be good. But I’ll still be ugly though. Nothing’s going to change that.

My cousin’s wedding in DC.
What’s with all the weddings? For some reason, October always seemed like a wedding-free zone for me. But enjoy the festivities, and may the bar always be open.
Plans have firmed up for Sunday. Sleep in, walk the gardens at the Huntington (I haven’t been in at least a year), then manicures and dinner with a friend. Maybe a movie, but that never works out.
Break a leg!
(Now, don’t I feel inadequate for my little “get a manicure” plan. Although, in fairness, the plan actually is manicure and pedicure.)
Why’d you have to go and do that? Now I’m feeling guilty again. Hey, I only moved in here three years ago. I need some time to make decisions. I don’t want to be all hasty-like and put things on the walls before I’m ready. What if I don’t like them there? Maybe I like plain white walls! Stop pressuring me!
I could help the hooch. I could totally get behind helping the hooch. Which reminds me, I’m out of Pimm’s…
