So, anyone doing anything fun today?

Just another Sunday for me – having coffee with a friend this morning, then I’ll probably do some straightening up this afternoon – I really need to vacuum the living room, the dust bunnies are getting scary. There doesn’t seem to be much on TV tonight, maybe I’ll watch a movie.

How about you?

A little shopping, watch a movie, take a nap. Pretty damn boring.

Painting a dark blue ceiling with clouds at a clothing store. I do this sort of thing for a living.
Just walked the Rottweilers 2 miles in the snow. I’d rather read the paper, fart around online, drink more coffee and have a nap instead of working.

Not so much.

Got up around 7:30, made coffee, got the paper, read the paper.
It’s cold and sort of snowy (but nowhere near what they were predicting for us at least), so I’m going to do my cooking for the week - make sure I have enough stuff to take for lunches and the like - and clean the apartment pretty well. Including vacuuming.

Maybe pop into the grocery for a couple of things, but maybe not. That means walking out into the cold and either cleaning the car or walking up to the store (I usually walk - it’s far, far easier and I can see the store from my building entrance - takes less than 5 minutes to walk there. Driving takes at least that, sometimes more depending on lights and traffic).

Gonna help staple up more heavy rubber soundproofing on the shared wall between us and the noisy neighbors. You stick it up, install some light wood framing over it, then put up drywall over that. It reduces the clamor by about 60-70%. I’d rather do something fun, but this is necessary for our sanity.

I’m going out to the country…almost to the California border to visit my friend Lisa. She is my only Irish vegan marathon running friend. And she is just a delight to be around. We have similar senses of humor. This is, of course after I go to the 9:00 a.m. Bikram yoga class…I signed up for the 30 day challenge so I have to go. Should be a fun day.

Cleaning and putting away laundry. Plan food for the week. Get any needed groceries. Get stuff together for taxes. Go to friends’ for dinner, assuming the weather stays boring (we have maybe 1/4" of snow right now). Pretty quiet and relaxing.

Not to much.

It’s been a tough couple of days. Got my plow truck stuck big time on Thursday night. Had to call a wrecker.

Got it stuck again yesterday. I managed to dig it out on my own. I’m a bit stiff from that. It’s chained up on all four wheels. When it gets stuck, its stuck.

It looks like I’m going to have to plow again today.

I think I’m going to whip up some spaghetti fro the Wife and I, and I’m sure we will watch the game (she’s from Pittsburgh).

I just sent the Gordon Setters out with their “Uncle Gary” for a day of hunting training in the field. I had thought about going to see Brokeback Mountain, since it is FINALLY showing here, but I really need to do a little house cleaning.

OK, I need to do a LOT of house cleaning.

I also have an order for 2 handpainted T shirts I need to get done. Soooo… it looks like while my DOGS are out having a day of fun, I shall be stuck here cleaning and painting. What’s wrong with THAT picture?

I have to get some work done and I am still clinging to the delusion that I am going to do my taxes today. And I go to the gym at 11. And it is laundry day. But it is not raining. Yet

Finish my taxes, because it looks like I’m getting a refund. Go into work, and try like hell to get done what I need to get done in eight hours. If I can do that and get out at a decent hour, then I’ll try to hit up a friend for dinner. If I’m friendless tonight, I’ll probably clean house and do laundry.

I have a duck in my pocket.

Well, not a real duck. (That would be cruel!) It’s a wooden duck. I probably won’t keep it in my pocket for long. I think I will put it on top of my computer. (My computer’s name is “Duck”, so that would be appropriate.) A fine man, and a good friend passed away recently, and the duck was his, and I asked his family if I could have it.

See, we would blame the duck for any casual flatulence that happened when we were together. “Did you hear a duck?” Ok, it’s a silly thing, but it was funny. Now when I see the duck, I remember my friend fondly. But, when I brought the duck home, I put it in my pocket, and happened to mention it several times.

“I have a duck in my pocket.”

It’s been fun. It’s not all that often you can say that, you know?

That’s what I am doing.

I had to work this morning because without me, people can’t listen to two church services or the real-estate show.

My sister-in-law and I were going to see Brokeback Mountain but she has to make soup and doesn’t trust Airman to put the veggies in at just the right time. But we’re going to see it later this week.

And, of course, the three of us plus Aaron are going to watch the Super Bowl, three of us in black and gold. I’ll leave it as an exercise to the reader to figure out who’s wearing black and pink. (Hint: It’s not the other three.)

When I’m done posting this I’ll go start a load of laundry. It’s piling up.
After that, I’ll dink around on the computer some more, then get in the shower. About that time, my husband and son will be getting home from Sunday School.
I’ll get dressed and put my face on, then the three of us will meet my mom (and possibly step-dad) at Leopard Lanes for lunch and bowling.
After bowling, we’ll come home and my husband will pack his suitcase while I do some more laundry. Around 4:30 or 5:00 I’ll drive him to the airport.
The boy and I will come home and sort-of watch the football game, but probably mostly fast-forward through the game and just watch the commercials.
We’ll have some food, and the kid will do his homework [“Find or draw a picture of something that begins with the letter ‘R’.”] and round up a shoebox for him to take to school. (The shoebox is to be a Valentine’s mail box. I guess they’ll be decorating them this week.)
Then it’ll be his bedtime, so a story and sleep for him and some quiet time for me. Probably I’ll watch Grey’s Anatomy, then read in bed for a bit before calling it a night.

Had to trade shifts due to an appointment that I made earlier in the week, so I had to work today. Nothing to do at work, so I mopped the office. (All the rain we got the other day, the floor was covered in mud.) I will have fried shrimp for dinner after I get done posting this, and then about midnight or so, go over to the Difac again to watch the Superbowl pregame. I don’t know if I can do the all nighter to see the whole game.

Sorry to ruin the low key “what those of us who don’t care about the game are doing” mood.

Football. All football, all day (and part of tomorrow for me), hopefully celebrating a Steelers victory at 4AM (Central European Time).

And beer.

Drinking yummy coffee at the moment, grandkid and SO are discussing video games and the Elric saga (yawn!) the Daystar is ACTUALLY PRESENT IN THE SKY, which could mean either the imminent end of the world or a nice hike later, the younger cat has figured out the old “stick him under an upended laundry basket” trick in record time (SO no fun!), and no great deeds need to be done aside from maybe bathing the dog (this is a very great deed indeed, as she does NOT like baths and she is huge and hairy!) but then again the Daystar is supposed to be out all week so I can probably procrastinate the bath or get someone else to do it while I’m at work this week (heh heh), I will be football free today and don’t plan on watching the commercials either–a nice Sunday in the offing to be sure!

No. I lost my voice this weekend; I can’t talk at all. So I’m sitting at home, quietly, by myself, gargling salt water. I do get to read, though.

Theoretically, I’m supposed to give a tour of the public library to 40 children tomorrow, which is about an hour of talking. I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Ugh, I’m sick, too. Sore throad, cough, congenstion. I’d been fighting it off all week, but Friday night it hit me hard. All plans cancelled for this weekend. Bleah. Not that they were great plans, mostly to visit my grandmother and the to go to the pub for lunch after church this morning, then watch the Superbowl. So now, it’s just soup and the Superbowl at home.

I don’t do sports, so this is never a big day for me. This year it’s been extra weird with Detroit hosting, the city’s gone quite mad and thankfully we got just enough snow to pretty up the worst of the burnt-out buildings and assorted flotsam. Hopefully we’ll not look quite as dismal on camera.

Visited a friend stuck in the hospital, cleaning and doing laundry like everyone else and getting my tax stuff together, I’m just that wild I tells ya.
