What are your favorite movie musicals? Multiple Choice.

And yet another vote for** Paint Your Wagon**
Fantastic movie. Filmed not far from where I live, and I suppose that gives me a certain bias. I know a couple of guys that were involved, one as an extra the other a set carpenter. He told me how the final footage where the whole town collapses into the tunnels was constructed and filmed. Also confirmed what others have said, that Lee Marvin was not acting the role of a drunk…he apparently did not draw a sober breath during the filming.
SS

Xanadu!

Alright, that’s it!
You. Outta the pool.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch - Saw it while working at a movie theater, dam that was one good musical

Of course you can! It’s one of my favorite movies.

I voted for Rocky Horror, and Other - Across the Universe I’ve watched several times. I’m not a movie re-watcher save a very few. These three are among them.

I’m not sure my votes should count for much, as in general, I don’t care for musicals, and tend to avoid them.
But the ones I like, I like very, very much.

These include Jesus Christ, Superstar, The Sound of Music, and…Mama Mia. >.<

DONT JUDGE MEH!!!
Oh yeah…I really enjoyed Across the Universe as well.
Hell, I like a couple of the movie versions better than the original songs. O.o

The Pajama Game. As far as I know, the only musical about union policies.

C’mon, it has DORRIS DAY in a 80’s ‘I’m a tough bitch’ haircut. That’s gotta be worth something. (Yes, I know it predates the 80’s considerably. It’s still awesome)

To be fair, maybe it’s off the list because it’s only about three sentences short of an opera. It has the highest song-to-speech ratio of any musical I can think of.

Blazing Saddles.

Little Shop of Horrors, BEST FILM EVER!

Another for “The Music Man”.

I voted for several but if I had been limited my votes would have gone to Moulin Rouge! (my pick if I had to choose one), Seven Brides For Seven Brothers (I grew up with it and still have a soft spot for it even though the premise horrifies my 2011 self), Jesus Christ Superstar (and I’m an atheist!), Funny Girl and Chicago.

More votes for the missing Across the Universe and Hair.

I missed Beauty and the Beast or I would have voted for it in addition to West Side Story and Chicago. Finian’s Rainbow was a dumb movie, but the music is lovely.

We just watched Cabaret again this past weekend. Wonderful film.

I’ll be surprised if many people have even heard of Swing Time or Top Hat, but we have both on DVD and they were included in my vote.

I picked Funny Face and My Fair Lady, both perfect movies.

This is inexcusable. How can *Gypsy *not even make the list?

And *My Fair Lady *would have gotten my vote if they had kept Julie Andrews.

I voted for 42nd St, (and would vote for other Busby Berkeley movies), Top Hat, Swing Time, Rocky Horror, and Gigi. Can never resist watching them.

My votes were All That Jazz, West Side Story, The King and I ("Shall we Dance!) Rocky Horror, Wizard of Oz and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, which is the first movie I thought of and I was sure would be missing from the list. Very good list. But others did point out the glaring omissions:

and

I can sing “For All the Best” flawlessly (in terms of getting every single syllable of the lyrics right, not my singing ability per se). It’s one of the two tongue-twisting speed songs that I can nail, the other being RIckie Lee Jones’ “Danny’s All-Star Joint”.

Oh, yes indeed.

Add me in for those I selected, an 1776 and Gypsy.

Another vote for Hair which is easily in my top 3.
