The bonus round happened and the polls went up all while I was still in bed. :frowning:

I was planning to nominate two more songs this morning (I didn’t even get to use my five nominations), but the polls were already up when I woke up.

Some more for your consideration:

Ac-Cent-U-Ate The Positive - Johnny Mercer
Act of Being Polite - The Residents
Adios Nonino - Aster Piazzolla
After Hours - Sarah Vaughan
Agua de Beber - Astrud Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim
Ain’t Got No Home - Clarence “Frogman” Henry
Ain’t Got Rhythm - Phineas and Ferb (definitely my favorite song from the entire series)
All For The Best - David Haskell, Stephen Nathan (from Godspell)
All I Need - Jake Bugg
All I Need - Air, Beth Hirsch
All I Wanna Do Is Play Cards - Corb Lund
All These Things That I’ve Done - The Killers
All You Good Good People - Embrace
All You Wanna Do - Cast of SIX
Along Comes Mary - The Association
Alright - Supergrass
Are You a Hypnotist? - The Flaming Lips
Are You Drinkin’ With Me Jesus - Jello Biafra, Mojo Nixon
Are You Having Any Fun? - Elaine Stritch
Are You Ready For The Sex Girls - Gleaming Spires
Arthur Murray Taught Me Dancing In A Hurry - Jimmy Dorsey, Helen O’Connell
As Good As I Once Was - Toby Keith
august - Taylor Swift
Avalanche - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Avenging Angels - Space
Avenues and Alleyways - Tony Christie

That reminds of “Avalanche” by Leonard Cohen. A great, but very bleak song about depression.

ETA: I didn’t know the Nick Cave song, but I just googled it and see that it is a cover of the Cohen song. Of course.

Just the duplicate and nearly-identical titles, have a lot of these this time, none of which (again) are covers I believe:

Albatross – Fleetwood Mac

Albatross - Judy Collins. The most glaring omission IMHO. Again, kept waiting, in vain, for someone to nom. it, sigh…

All the Way From Memphis – Mott the Hoople

All the Way From Reno - REM

All Around the World – Lisa Stansfield

All Around the World - Oasis

Anchorage – Michelle Shocked
Alaska – Maggie Rogers

Alaska – Sad Lovers and Giants

All I Want is You – Carly Simon
All I Want Is You - U2

All I Want Is You - Roxy Music

And, seriously? 4 f. votes for that total hack Adam Ant?!? While other new wave and postpunk cuts FAR more deserving continue to languish?!

Hey, the ear wants what the ear wants. Deserve’s got nothing to do with it.

To which you can add

All Around The World - The Jam

The only others I have that are neither in the polls or on the bench are:

All I Want Is You - Roxy Music (another duplicate title!)
Alison Gross - Steeleye Span
Amateur Hour - Sparks

(Oh, and All Through The City by Dr Feelgood, which I accidentally entered under D when I got the title wrong (Down By The Jetty is the title of the album, not the song - sorry about that mmm).

I lived in the UK when Antmusic came out. Man, they were huge for a few years. The album was number one for months. Not my thing, but it’s no worse than Pop Muzik or Video Killed the Radio Star or Turning Japanese or God Save the Queen.

Yep! In fact, I had to, because my first votes disappeared.

I note this cover was cruelly overlooked.

Yeah, I would have voted for this song if it had been the Merrilee Rush version. I strongly dislike the Juice Newton one.

Ain’t That a Shame- Fats Domino
All Along the Watchtower- Dylan w/The Band
Amos Moses- Jerry Reed

And the live version from Cheap Trick playing for a few thousand Japanese teenagers.

I’m curious about the song Appalachian Stomp (Bill Monroe). Between Youtube, Wikipedia And Amazon I found a Bluegrass Stomp (Bill Monroe) and various anthologies and revues named Appalachian Stomp. But I struck out on the actual tune.

I also looked for it (on Spotify), it does not exist there, either.

mmm

I found this on eBay (CD called Appalachian Stomp)

No songs on it with that name, though

I almost picked Abracadabra, but I thought…“They’re all going to laugh at you.”

Although, I had no problem picking Afternoon Delight.

Did anyone else hear this in the voice of the late Piper Laurie?

That was what I was hoping for. :slightly_smiling_face:

Did I miss the poll where we pick only three?
