Back before I discovered the SDMB, when I got bored online, I’d try typing in www.x.com, where x is whatever random word or phrase popped into my head, and see what came up. This lead to the discovery of a host of strange websites. My favorites:

No, but when I clicked on your www.x.com link for kicks, I was redicrected to a PayPal page saying “Payment Processing,” then immediately afterwards to the PayPal home page. Scary. :eek:
I like checking in with Pointless Sites from time to time. They feature sites that are … well … pointless. (And yes, purple.com is on it. But not roastchicken.com, probably because that’s not altogether entirely useless)
www.subservientchicken.com It cracks me up every time. There is an amazing amount of different commands, some of them pretty obscure.
And the phrase “subservient chicken” just popped into your head one day? 
I always feel so surreal after visting it, too. Like there’s some joke I’m just not getting.

Not only is the guy pretty smart, he’s freaking hilarious. That site has gotten me through a lot of slow days at work.

Well, Tom Jefferson, the big swinging dick of the Founding Fathers, who this guy is going on about, was from Virginia. A southern state. And southern states are all Johnny-come-latelys? Is anything in New England as old as Roanoke?
Even if that rant is a joke, a lot of people really feel that way, and they’re just as bad as those ignint suhthaners they’re decrying.
