What bands that are not generally considered one-hit-wonders do you think have only one good song?

May your mother have a fling with Hugh Hefner and produce many offspring.
mmm

Well there’s a reasonable reaction to a different taste in music.

The great thing about a pure opinion thread such as this one is that we can all have vastly differing opinions and just agree to disagree. It is my studied opinion that virtually everything Pink Floyd ever recorded is crap. I also recognize I am in the minority on that opinion. Nevertheless, for the purposes of this OP, Pink Floyd is a band not generally considered a one-hit-wonder that *I *think only has one good song. YMMV

I see we have here another case of hyporockic syndrome, when the genetic code of the patient makes him/her insensitive to THE ROCK. Treatment included systematic exposure to the classics while the patient is restrained. Recovery is pronounced when endorphin levels jump when hearing something from the KLOS-Los Angeles Memorial Day Top 500 rock playlist.

I myself have hyperzeppelinitis caused by overexposure. I’m not saying the band is bad, I’m just done with them for the indefinite future. I’ve heard it too much.

That or I just don’t care for The Who? Restrain me if you like, but you’d better kill me because the moment I’d be free you would be missing parts of your body you would regret losing

The only Rolling Stones song I like is “Paint It, Black.” How’s that for heresy?

Kiss - Beth.

This heretic only likes “Start Me Up”

The person above who said that Elvis Costello’s only good song is Allison has clearly never paid attention to the lyrics of Veronica, or watched the video.

*Allison *is okay, but Veronica makes me all wet-eyed.

The thing about this discussion is a bit unfair. If you don’t know the rest of the artist or band’s work, how can you judge it fairly? 99.99% of the population knows only one Thomas Dolby song “She Blinded Me With Science”. Personally, it’s his weakest song, and his best album is the one that sold worst.

In the same way, I cringe to think that the vast masses know only one Todd Rundgren song - “Bang On The Drum All Day”.

Heh. I thought I’d be a heretic to mention Blues Traveler, but here it is in the first 6 posts. Well done!

I remember buying the “Travelers and Thieves” album in college, and throwing that bad boy in the dorm hall halfway through.

Dammit, there goes my other contribution.

 Turn in your buds and any other musical listening device you own.

“Hook” annoys the crap out of me. It’s trying too hard to be clever and cute. From Blues Traveler’s catalog, I would have to go with “But Anyway.” That first album was actually pretty decent, but I have a soft spot for Blues Traveler.

No, seriously. Did they do another song besides Stairway to Heaven?

How can someone be overexposed to one song?

Cyndi Lauper - “All Through the Night”

I just found out a week ago that the lead singer of Rush is a man. I don’t like any of their songs either.

Cars - Drive.

Oh, buddy, apparently you don’t listen to the classic rock genre stations. Some of them devote entire hours to this one band. I have to say that StH is the one that actually makes me cringe at this point. It’s been played to the point of being a cliche. That’s not the band’s fault. It was never even released as a single.

:confused::eek:
I’m having a reaction similar to MPB’s friend to the above two posts.

Of all of Led Zeppelin’s hits, I find Stairway to be one of the least played, mainly because of its length. I find it far more common to hear Black Dog, Good Times Bad Times, All My Love, the Immigrant Song, etc., than Stairway.
