I’m not a huge Coldplay fan. In fact, I don’t remember that song. So, I’m not sticking up for them. But, there is a Coldplay song that I love. It’s called The Scientist(youtube link). It’s a bit more sparse than their other songs, but I think well written and it sounds good.
Really? That’s the only Elvis Costello!? I’m not trying to change your mind. Just sharing these in case you haven’t heard them and only his bad things… (The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes, Watching the Detectives, Pump it Up, (What’s So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding(I know it’s a cover. But his version is the one I know best.), Kinder Murder, Everyday I Write the Book.
Ok. That’s probably too much. If you don’t like him. You don’t like him. I’m just a little surprised that you could like Alison, but not like the other stuff.
I don’t think I can think of any popular band who I would consider being a one hit wonder. I must just not be picky enough!
Is that German? Which word is the band and which is the song?
I will join you in that minority. I have never been able to figure out what’s supposed be so amazing about those guys. IMO, their only good song is “Money”. Perhaps because it’s the only one that doesn’t seem deliberately designed to send the listener into the depths of depression.
Stairway isn’t bad. The immigrant song is OK, but I swear everything else they did sounds like someone stepped on a cats tail over and over again.
When those classic rock stations talk about getting the lead out, I really wish they would and stop playing Lead Zeppelin.
Wheel in the Sky-Journey and Stayin Alive-Bee Jees. Also even as huge Pink Floyd fan I’m sick of Another Brick Pt. 2 and Money, it’s a shame they only ever play 5 or 6 their songs, ditto for Led Zeppelin and Stairway.
There was a radio station in Albuquerque that once bragged that they played more Pink Floyd than anyone else. What that meant is that they played the same six songs more often.
While being objective about these catalogs, they are certainly good bands, but I otherwise dont find these bands as enjoyable listening…so for the OP…
Rolling stones - paint it black, the only song of theirs that holds up over time and still feels fresh and rocking’
Dire straits - sultans of swing, all of their other material I’ve heard is either too simple, too jazzy, or too understated for me to like. Damn technically good band, but they fail Pop Hook 101 for me.
Guns N’ Roses have one good song: Welcome To The Jungle. Everything else they did is shite.
And their name is stupid too. “And” is properly slanged in text as 'n not n’. This band’s name should be pronounced Guns Nuh Roses.
But then I also think that the guy who quarterbacked the Green Bay Packers for all those years should learn to fucking pronounce his own name; “Favre” should be pronounced “fav ruh” not “farv”.
I know my name is spelled BO but from now on it’s pronounced “Lordoftheuniverse”, okay?
That’s the thing about “Non-One Hit Wonders.” Twenty-five different people might second this opinion, but choosing 25 different songs as the one good one.
