I think Pearl Jam is a terrible band name (love the band tho).
Also, I’m going to the Dead Milkmen show from the OP woohoo!
63 posts and no one has mentioned the Grateful Dead.
Sixpence None the Richer.
Fun Fact: Sixpence None the Richer toured with the group The Fatherless and the Widow.
The Band…is kinda sorta odd.
If you ask me. ![]()
Good one!
Might as well throw Lothar And The Hand People into the mix.
There’s …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead (with the leading periods as part of the band name)
Which I always thought wouldn’t be that strange if they were a heavy metal band but they are an alternative rock band, not particularly heavy at all.
Pere Ubu!
These kinds of threads are tough, so apologies if I’ve repeated any:
Jefferson Airplane
Damn, three were done already, And if Yes is one, then I say
I don’t think I’ve actually heard any of their songs, but a band called !!! (pronounced Chk Chk Chk) has at least been successful enough to have released nine albums and counting.
And I found it virtually impossible to do a search engine query for them. I just remembered the band name and looked it up directly in Wikipedia’s search bar.
I can’t even link to it properly. They really screwed the pooch naming themselves that.
I have “Welcome to the Circus” by Five Finger Death Punch in my Random playlist, which mainly consists of songs I’ve heard in public areas.
I Prevail, Mammoth VWH, and Nothing More have all performed with Halestorm. I Prevail and Halestorm recorded a song together, which I’ve heard, which is also on my Random playlist.
I saw Mammoth VWH when they and Halestorm opened for Alter Bridge. I saw Nothing More when they opened for Halestorm and saw them twice on their own and even chatted with the bassist while waiting to go inside the venue.
A workmate ran down to the record store on his lunch break and came back with an LP by Throbbing Gristle.
Similarly for God Speed! You Black Emperor, which would not be that strange if they were a dub reggae outfit or something like that but they are noodly Canadian post rock outfit.
Depends on your definition of big, but GWAR was pretty well known among my group.
It’s better than Prince’s second stage name.
Nitpick: it’s Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
