What became of Meghan? (Letterman Question)

In the last year or so Dave Letterman was on NBC, he made friends on-air with a woman named Meghan who worked in an office building across from the NBC studios. She sometimes worked late and they’d train a camera on her office window, then Dave would call and they’d have a nice chat.

One time they sent Billy Dee Williams over to her office with a six-pack of Colt .45.

At least once they brought her over to be on the show.

Whatever happened to her? I seem to remember Dave had her as a guest once early on after he’d moved to CBS, but I haven’t heard anything else in years and years. Has Conan ever called her up from his show (I’m guessing not; he’s not so much for “found humor” as Dave is).

Who knows? Please share!

Fiver, her name was Meg Parsons. She was an alumna of my (…and Dire Wolf’s and others on this board…) high school.

I tried to do a search of her on our alumni association website to get you an update of her goings-on, but it appears the database is down. (That might be a result of the WTC attack; the school is not far from ground zero.)

Oops. Small correction on the spelling:

Her name is Meg Parsont, (Stuyvesant HS, class of 1980).

I just Googled her. If she’s the same Meg Parsont that turned up in most of the hits, she appears to have become a children’s book author. (Titles: Bulldozer, Racing Car, Helicopter, etc.)

Hey, good on her! I always liked Meg.

Looks like I had her name wrong, though. Meg, not Meghan.

Where did y’all go to high school?

“Where did y’all go to high school?”

Fiver, look three posts up.

That’s the name of your school. I meant what city, state?

Fiver, no offense, but have you had your coffee this a.m.? [Grinny here.] Look six posts up.

(SHS is in NYC, NY. For decades it was located in a building a few blocks from Union Square, but it moved to a new location near the WTC in the early 1990s. You’ve probably seen it many times during the WTC tragedy coverage – it’s been serving as a disaster relief HQ until very recently.)

Who am I? What am I doing here?

(Excuse me now; I’m off to get a cuppa joe.)

AHA!

I had been wondering if stuyguy meant what I thought it meant.

Go Peglegs

Didn’t she become the intellectual property of NBC?

A USA Today article from 1993 pointed out an appearance she made on the CBS show. (10/5/1993)

I remember she always had just the right attitude when Dave and his crew came to bother her at work. Some people would get irritated and not cooperate. Others would be TOO cooperative, and ham it up, pretending they were TV stars like Dave himself.

Meg was always good-natured and complacent, having a good time without thwarting Dave’s goals.
