The past couple of days I have been trying to remember the title of a book I read. It was a mystery thriller set in the 1920s (approx.) and one of the main characters was a brilliant young woman doctor who had been educated abroad and then brought to London by a benefactor to practice some new and unconventional form of medicine. Her benefactor was some evil bad guy (she did not realize this), who built her clinic in London. I think she was an eye doctor. I think it was a Sax Rohmer book but I cannot figure out which one.
In the book was also a car crash, a hideout, trips to find a telephone (I guess not everyone had one)…
