I want to bake something. I have some random things left over from other things I’ve made. What should I make now?
Steel cut oats
2 cans of sweetened condensed milk
buttermilk (a whole lot)
eggs (10)
dried blueberries
dried cranberries
2 bananas (not banana bread worthy yet)
1 can of pumpkin (not pie mix)
regular flour
bread flour
basic baking stuff (salt, sugar, baking soda, etc.)
Help!
I didn’t think of bread pudding. Is it any good with potato bread? I only have that and pumpernickel.
Buttermilk pancakes with a fruit compote to go on top.
Buttermilk biscuits.
If you can find a few scraps of vegetable or ham, you could make a nice crust-free quiche.
Buttermilk pumpkin bread, with dried fruit.
I ended up making pumpkin bread pudding with the potato bread. It is excellent, though I’m not a fan of rehydrated raisins (the recipe called for currants, which I can’t imagine would be much better). My Sweetie was thrilled with his birthday surprise dessert. Unfortunately, other than the last cup of heavy cream I didn’t realize I had (and which expired 4 days ago but smelled/tasted fine), and the can of pumpkin, I didn’t actually use get rid of any of my random ingredients. Looks like I need to do some more baking.
