I’m not the type to post a link and then walk away, but I just can’t find anything to say about this, except to say that a long time ago there was doubt expressed on this board that there were some people that didn’t “Support the Troops”. I hope this dispels that notion.
I say that sometimes it’s difficult to realize that you are fighting for *everyone’s * first amendment rights. These people seem to be dickheads, but they don’t seem to be advocating overthrow of the government.
I didn’t run. I just can’t even put into words what I’m thinking. I’s somewhere between killing rage and frustrated resignation because he is capable of putting up something like that, and all because there are “scumbags” both past and present that made it possible.
Dude, did you think there were no nutjobs in the world? This dude is obviously whacky, so just shrug it off. If you obsess about every lone crank with a website, you’re going to blow a gasket. Clearly, form his home page, his sentiments have been met with 100 percent vitriol from every person who’s come across it.
I just can’t take a website like that seriously. Seems either like trolling or the product of a seriously deranged psyche. Of course there’s going to be people who don’t support the troops. There’s over 250 million Americans and everyone and their dog has a website these days. Law of averages and all that. But why should I bother getting all hot and bothered about the rantings of some random idiot?
Airman, consider it like this-this guy is to our troops what Fred Phelps is to homosexuals, what Jack Chick is to Catholics. Someone we should be poking fun at, not getting angry over.
Doors, just remember that you and I serve to protect this guy. Right or wrong, his statement is distinctly American (say anything you want to because its your ‘right.’ Nevermind that you yourself never earned it…)
That’s so over the top, I have to wonder if it’s a sick joke. The language is just so… I mean, leeches? Scumbags? “the military is a lifestyle these morons chose”? I’m having a hard time believing the clod who put up this website is serious and really believes this shit.
It reads, at least to me, like a parody of the genuine hate sites polluting the Web, as created by a dumbfuck jerk who has no clue why no one ever laughs at his jokes.
How does one ‘earn’ the right to say what one wants? By killing people unquestioningly for an oligarchy that will inevitably forget you when it’s time for you to collect the benefits they promised you in twenty years?
This guy is an idiot, not because he doesn’t support the troops, but because he doesn’t realize that there is no point for them to pay taxes because their salaries are paid by taxes, and overseas they aren’t under the jurisdiction of any state.
If the troops are fighting for a cause I don’t believe in, they are going directly against my wishes. I cannot in good conscience support them. I would support deserters, but I don’t support troops fighting over there. I have family in the military and I care about them, but I don’t support the war, and I don’t support us having the large military that we do, therefore I do not support the troops. Any contribution I make to the economy supports the troops I suppose, so I guess I am supporting the troops monetarily. The only thing I support is bringing the troops home and moving our economy away from being a military industrial complex.
You made the choice to join the military, if you believe in the cause you are fighting, then more power to you, but don’t expect me to support you, because it’s not my cause, and I disagree with it. I think that you are in the wrong, and I think that you are personally responsible for everyone you kill.
This doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be fine with you as a person, but your military service isn’t something that I admire.
If you were in the National Guard, and defending us on our own soil, then you’d have my full support, I’d probably even fight next to you.
Get used to it people don’t like this war, and the people that don’t like the war are probably not going to support you.
This guys seems to be something of a semi-professional troll. He advertised his hosting service over at Stormfront but also seems to be building himself up with a troll as a gay musician. I’m guessing he formed the site for the specific purpose of seeing if he can get himself mentioned in the media.
These days I would not be shocked at all if it turned out to be a site put up by someone on the GOP payroll so that FOX News can come in late to expose it and claim that all liberals are evil and ought to be stamped out.
Airman Doors At first I thought it was a tongue in cheek essay about “overpaid” troops living the “easy” life and being a “burden” to taxpayers. I was waiting for the “zinger” such as - the truth is some military families have to rely on Food Stamps (a point John McCain made during his 2000 Presidential bid)
But there is no “zinger” is there? This site is for real ?!
Airman Doors, as you probably know I am one of the more liberal members of this message board but I find that website to be (at best) incredibly stupid and at worst - well I’m at a loss for words on that one.
You know what that reminds me of? When Pat Tillman died in Afghanistan in April 2004, the University of Massachusetts school newspaper ran an obituary with the title:
Pat Tillman is not a hero: He got what was coming to him
Here’s the link for that editorial: http://media.dailycollegian.com/pages/tillman_lobandwidth.html?in_archive=1
Yes we have freedom of speech but I wonder if that website owner and that editorial writer are doing that intentionally to aggravate people without regard to how irresponsible and just downright insulting that is.
I believe that editorial writer had to leave U Mass not because of misconduct but for his own safety. If that website owner posted his actual address he might be surprised at the anger that will be coming in his direction. (If he hasn’t been made aware of that already).
Wow, I took so long to type that posting I didn’t get the chance to see the mswas posting and respond to those points.
Too tired to do that now. I’m sure other Dopers might want to add their own comments.
