A lot of Ford designs over the years are just clunky when compared to GM. They did redeem themselves with some models, especially when the Mustang was designed and in subsequent re-designs. I know that car loyalties are strong and my opinion is just that, but it’s hard to argue side-by-side aesthetics. I grew up with the 50s-60s models and the sleek designs by GM always drew my eye.
