What Christmas standard do you not want to hear any more?

One of a few Wham songs I like, and I don’t remember it being overplayed when it was released. I hear it more often now.

You’re going to have to be more specific than that…

The song I hate above all others is “Christmas Time is Here.” I have to change the station whenever it’s on. I loathe it.

This. I mean, THIS!!! I think it was better when I was a kid, and there was no attempt at diversity.

At least no one has come up with “Hanukkah Shoes.”

You really mean Vince Guaraldi’s tune from Charlie Brown?

I could stand most of those once a year. The second time turns the Christmas season into a time of evil and violent desires.

Then you have not heard this one!

Little Drummer Boy by corporal blossom.

“Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” is the very definition of what is wrong with Christmas music.

That song was sung by a 10-year-old girl named Gayla Peevey. I like it mostly because of the hearty, full-throated way she belts it out. Pretty damn good singing for a 10-year-old kid.

Not what I’d call “standards”, but these get played a lot on the pop stations that go to all-Christmas formats, and they are not Christmas songs:

Last Christmas (Wham!, and any and all covers)
Same Old Lang Syne (Dan Fogelberg)
My Favorite Things (from The Sound of Music)

Also, while it’s a Christmas song, “Wonderful Christmastime,” by Paul McCartney, needs to just go away, because it’s an awful song.

Anything that mentions Jesus. Maybe that’s unfair of me, but I don’t care.

Also, Springsteen’s Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.

I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. It’s just so pervy. :stuck_out_tongue:

Feliz Navidad. The motherfucking drummer boy, in any language and any version, with special hate for Raphael. And Last Christmas.

This far into the thread and no one has mentioned “Sleigh Ride”?!? :dubious:

I loathe this song! Every time I hear “Giddy-up, giddy-up, giddy-up, let’s go!/Let’s look at the show!/We’re riding in a wonderland of snow!” I want to commit murder. :smack:

And now I won’t be able to get it out of my head for the rest of the day. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!

Our hymnal lists this one as “The First Nowell”. Every time I hear it, I sing along “Where in the hel-el is I-is-RYE-el?”

For me, it’s Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree. Despise that song. It’s so nice to go into stores on Dec. 26 and not hear Christmas music.

Whenever I hear it, I think of Chicago:

No El, no El!
Ah, so I’ll take a streetcar!

never mind

That one, yes.

All of them if it’s before the 24th.

“Wizards in Winter” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Love TSO, but that song makes me want to shove icepicks in my ears.

Can we also mention just how horrible “Last Christmas” is anyway?

I gave you my heart and you broke it so I’m going to give it to someone better.

Yeah, that’s what I want in my Christmas songs, misery and heartbreak
