What color car would you want if you had a real choice?

A lot of the colors I want are not being made on production cars.
The hot red-orange of the 64½ Mustang.
The funky bright Kelly green called “Anti-establish Mint” of the 70’s.
Midnight blue/purple of some Jaguars.
But also the two-tones of the fifties sedans (and the three-tone red, white, and black of the 50’s Packard, but not the less effective red-white and pink)
And the broad racing stripes of the muscle cars.
And the flames of chop-top Cadillac hot rods.

And of course the patterned car colors that Michael Keaton used in Johnny Dangerously, where he would try to fool the cops in a car chase by pulling off different layers of contact paper to reveal a new car color. And at least one was a children’s wallpaper pattern with little ducks and bunnies.

So, tired of white, black and charcoal metallics?
You win a custom car with any paint job you want. What’s your choice?

Hmm. I would have said royal blue or midnight blue, depending on the car, but plaid is sounding interesting. Black and white plaid with yellow and red thrown in.

Okay, do you remember blowpops from when you were a kid? Picture a cherry one, that you’d half finished. I want a car that color red. I guess you’d call it a dark metallic red, since it’s definitely not a flat paint color.

I want a two-toned sedan in two shades of green. Bright kelly green and maybe bright grass green. Something like that. I also want a bright green oven and refrigerator.

Funny enough, all of my cars have always been red, not because I particularly like red cars, but because I could afford them. I always said if I could pick the color it would be green. My current car was given to me by a stranger (well, I knew him kind of, long story, not going into it), and it is green.

There’s this late 60s/early 70s green that I love, although it’s not quite the bright kelly green the OP described. It’s not so bright, more like a puke green, I suppose. Ah, I see it’s called “Mist Green” if you look up a '72 Plymouth on this site.

Bright yellow, which doesn’t seem to come on very many cars at all. Limiting colour choices to eight (five of which are grey) was a terrible decision by car companies.

I have seen cars roughly this color. I want an extremely deep midnight blue with nothing flat about the paint at all. It would be a bitch to keep clean but that’s ok.

There is a 76 Bug around here with that color scheme. I will try to snap a pic of it this week for you- it is the cutest.

A very dark iridescent violet.

Of course this would depend somewhat on the way the car itself looked, but going for the ideal car (the original Ford GT40), I think it would work fine.

I always dreamed of a yellow VW beatle with a Porsche engine in it. Yellow, mhhhhh…

Plum Crazy Purple.

Plum Crazy Purple!
