For me, it’s the Dude all the way.
Some online casino has a proposition bet on whether or not anyone will say “Dilly Dilly” during a Miller Lite commercial.
Dachshunds.
That would come under the heading of “anticipating changing the channel”. How pathetic, to try so hard to make a viral catchphrase. It’s like trying to get everyone to call you “T-Bone”…
I’m looking forward to Doritos and Bud Light commercials.
This will be the first year I’m going to be watching for the commercials (DVRed of course). I didn’t have any real rooting interest for any of the teams that made the playoffs. I would’ve been mostly okay with a Chiefs victory since I’m a big fan of a perennial underachiever finally getting the monkey off, but until they get rid of that endlessly irritating tomahawk chop, I can never pull for them.
Anyway, be expecting at least one of each of the following:
- A big social message delivered by a company which you don’t remember ever giving a damn about social issues. Grumble all you want about these companies having serious problems and most definitely not being on the side of the angels. The bottom line is that in today’s environment, they need to appear to be, so expect another Gillette-style much-longer-than-30-seconds piece on immigration or mass shootings or whatever.
- A big, energetic cartoon. Corporate America seems to have finally wised up to the fact that animation can be used to sell things. The success of Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse will provide even more incentive to provide the successor to Erin Esurance.
- A teaser promo for an upcoming spring blockbuster.
- An announcement, which may or may not give any details, for a new reality show that promises to break barriers or something similarly pretentious.
- A snack chip commercial with a suspiciously hot spokesmodel and/or a way, way, way excessive amount of stunt work.
- A pathetic attempt to cash in on a stupid, forced, unfunny, dead-the-day-it-was-born meme.
Star Wars Episode IX trailer(teaser, anyway)
Call it a long shot, but I think that it’s high time to see another Super Bowl commercial involving cowboys herding cats.
None. Super Bowl commercials haven’t been interesting for the last several years.
Have you watched all of them?
