I don’t believe Kurt Cobain committed suicide.
You know, I actually thought about this a little, too. If nothing else, it doesn’t really seem like an ideal weapon to try and field—a disease that is person-to-person contagious, but that isn’t that easy to infect areas or groups of people with using a weapons system (like bomblets, or sprays)?
It seems pretty much the oppasate of the U.S. BW doctrine, when it was in place, which actually focused a lot on debilitating diseases, such a Tularemia(a sick soldier or civilian that needs hospitalization takes a lot of resources.) and area-denial, which could include Anthrax; and simply not good enough for the Soviet/Russian BW doctrine (which had a bigger focus on the whole “and God will know his, by the glutted trail of their own dead” angle), which tried to weaponize things like Smallpox and Marburg.
So if HIV was a weapon, I’d guess that it wasn’t even out of Beta-testing, yet.
Soooo…you believe that the jets flying into the WTC and the Pentagon were really remote controlled by the government so that we could go to war and steal their oil?
By the way…where is all that oil we are supposed to have stolen? I swear, everyone says the USA is an evil imperialist nation, but if we are, we totally suck at it. We can’t even manage to snitch a barrel or two of oil that’s lying around in a shed somewhere.
Very good debating points-it’s just too bad that this is a poll, not a debate. Are there any conspiracy theories you believe in?
Am I the only one cracking up over the thought of mod underoos?
As far as conspiracy theories go, I’m not really sure what I believe. dons asbestos suit and dunce cap I can google a known CT, such as 9/11, and get totally opposite results from a multitude of different sources. The problem is, each source has its own agenda. Some of them want us to believe the story as presented, so of course they will give evidence that “proves” this to be true. Those who think (know?) that 9/11 was planned or allowed by the government obviousy give “proof” to the contrary. Obviously some CT scenarios are far more likely than others, but I really have know way to know for sure one way or the other, and worrying about it does nothing for my complexion.
FTR, I totally buy into the idea that Cecil doesn’t exist, and that Kurt Cobain was killed by Courtney.
Not unless they’re wearing the mod jackboots at the same time. Without that, it just doesn’t work for me.
Bigfoot!
Maybe we should start a “Prove your CT” thread in Great Debates.
I do not believe Lee Harvey Oswald had anything to do with the assasination of JFK.
I believe political appointees in the Bush Justice Department conspired to pack the staff with conservative, politically biased lawyers. I believe they fired 9 US attornies for political reasons. And I believe they charged and convicted at least one governor and a government employee for political/electoral reasons.
I firmly believe that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were designed to be a lead-in and provide us with bases for our ultimate goal- Iran. I believe that we figured that if we won in those countries, we’d have the Middle East in our hands and it would stop being such a thorn in our sides. But we honestly didn’t think the Iraq war would take so long and go so poorly.
I don’t know how much a conspiracy theory this is, but I believe most conflict in Africa is a direct (though unintentional) result of Western powers supporting leaders that give them favorable trade deals and access to natural resources (often at great environmental costs). Leaders with these powers are usually autocratic and corrupt, but we provide them with weapons and backup and nice places to retire in exile as long as they keep producing the goods. I believe we have spent a lot of time assassinating opposition party members or out of vogue leaders and sending all those weapons that are being used in all those wars.
I will believe just about anything anyone tells me about the government’s role in combating the black power movement, including that gang warfare and drug abuse were helped along by the powers that be.
I believe that the US Governement is directly involved in the production of a portion of the supply ofSupernotes and use them to finance operations completely off the books.
What about the one where G.W. the 1st allowed Sadman’s army to sneak into Kuwait, so he could set the ball rolling for an invasion of his own?
Then why did he shoot that cop later that day?
Oh my, no, I’m not that far gone. I believe the 9/11 story presented to us by the media is legit – no CT belief from me there. I do, however, think that our government took advantage of that and seized it as an excuse to settle some personal vendettas that weren’t necessarily in our best interest.
Maybe it’s not even a conspiracy theory that I’m talking about. I think our government wanted war and seized the opportunity while trying to make themselves out to be more noble and virtuous than they really were – maybe that’s just politics.
I more or less buy this. I think that if Iraq had not gone to hell and tied up the military, we would have gone ahead and invaded Iran.
but, I believe that the CIA has made all kinds of blunders, many so bad that they will never see the light of day. I don’t trust them at all. I think the CIA had some very strange relationship with L.H. Oswald, and the Mafia.
There are 3 accepted reasons for Conservatives backing the push for the Iraq war:
- revenge for 9-11,
- create a staging point for the US in the Middle East
- security of Israel.
There is a fourth, not widely known: To have within the Western world, a naked exhibition of conservative/right-wing power. The project was to exhibit dominance over the media and public discussion. In this way it created a model of how much more powerful, unified and persuasive the right-wing machine is in comparison to the public and the humble evidence-based media. It was important to go to war on a series of falsehoods, as a measure of the right’s influence.
By contrast, some believe that the right-wing simply went along with the WMD stories as just one of those things they had to say to get revenge on Arabs and serve the other known goals of the Iraq invasion. It is not so. The fraility of the WMD stories was integral to the whole project.
Bohemian Grove is the site of all sorts of secret man-love shennanigans that would embarrass a lot of powerful people.
That the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings were more about Russia than Japan.
It means that you believe that it exists, or that it’s existence is conspiracy?
