Dentist visits are more dangerous than tattoo parlor visits, because the patient cannot wear a mask. However, dentist visits may be required, in the case of emergency visits, and are certainly more important. That is, dentists are an essential service and tattoos are completely, entirely, totally inessential.
Also, unless both the artist and canvas are wearing medical grade N95 masks, they are breathing all over each other. And, I’d rather save those masks for essential needs, such as healthcare workers, first responders, mail carriers, and grocery store workers, etc.
I would really to be able to go to a bookstore or library again. IMHO libraries should be essential anyway because where else can someone without a computer access the internet?
Ok, maybe I'm just stupid - but something like 80% of American adults own smartphones and 75% have desktops or laptops. And 80% have internet access. There's going to be a lot of overlap, but I'm wondering what essential tasks that 20% or so of adults who don't have internet access are going to do at the library that they can't do by phone? Bills can be paid by phone, you can apply for unemployment in my state ( and probably most others) by phone , most banking transactions can by done by phone and the reality is that it's unlikely that those without internet access are going to the library to conduct that business every month anyway. Schools in my area provided internet-enabled devices to students who need them, internet providers gave 2 months of free service to households with students that didn't have internet access, and cell phone providers are providing unlimited data and not charging for using the phone as a hotspot.
I mean , I love books and libraries - but I don't understand why libraries are more *essential* than all the other businesses that have been deemed non-essential. In my state, dentists and vet offices are closed except except for emergencies - I'm not sure why the library being open for internet access is more essential than my six-month dental checkup.
