I’ve been doing a lot of research on LCD screens for a DIY project.
I notice that when I search for just a bare-bones LCD (sans inverter and controller) I don’t get all the specs. The specs I do receive are Active Area Size (15", 15.4", etc) Resolution (XGA, WXGA, etc), Contrast Ratio (200:1, 300:1, etc), Color Depth(18-bit, 24-bit, etc), Horizontal and Vertical Viewing Angle(90°, 120°), and sometimes Brightness (200 cd/m2, 300 cd/m2) - I think Brightness is only listed if it comes with the CCFL or LED backlight lamp.
So the main specs that are missing are the Pixel Response and Refresh Rate. Is it safe to assume that this is determined primarily by the LCD Controller?
Here are some white papers I’ve been trying to wrap my head around:
Samsung LTN150U4-L01 15" UXGA LCD Panel
Genesis gm5110/gm5110-H and gm5120/gm5120-H LCD Controller Chips
