What did "around the world" used to mean?

“Around the world” is something offered at a brothel in the book From Here To Eternity, set in 1941 Hawaii.

oral, vaginal, anal intercourse sequence (not necessarily in that order).

They do say travel broadens the mind. Ahem.

Warning: If your erection lasts longer than 80 days, consult a physician.

Wow. No wonder it cost an extra 5 bucks.

The term refers to adding French (oral) and Greek (anal) style sex to the standard menu. So it was more like a “Grand Tour” of Europe rather than a round-the-world trip.

Hey, you’re on vacation! Live a little!

FWIW, I’m told that doing it “right” means ending up in the same orifice you started in, so it’s not simply “oral-vaginal-anal,” but “oral-vaginal-anal-oral,” for example.

If you don’t “come home” again (you should pardon the expression), then you didn’t really go “around the world.”

Back in my day it meant licking around the entire body, anilingus and then fellatio to climax.
When I was in Saigon in 1963 the big boys told me the prostitutes there performed it.

This is what I’ve always thought the term meant. I’m not sure why I think it… maybe it was how the term was defined in some of the early porn I read when I was a kid? Maybe The Happy Hooker?

I think that’s the definition that is given in Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex … But Were Afraid to Ask.

To truly go 'round the world, I guess animals would have to be involved somehow. At least if you included some rustic parts of the U.S.
