I had work on my birthday, and my boss didn’t even let me have a free meal. Oh well, that was month’s ago.
Friday night was a Yelp event at Ireland’s 32 at which a friend of mine played.
Saturday, I went to Lucky 13.
Sunday, I went to Bring Your Own Big Wheel and then to the Rogue Ale House.
I’m not a huge birthday person per se, I just like to throw a party.
I worked. Which is fine.
Well, my birthday was yesterday, so I’m glad you asked… Two of my friends and I went to a strip club, where they were having an all-male revue. Shy, meek little me had some drinks(including a jello shot that was, um, served, through the front of a guy’s undies), squeezed a lot of butts, did a lot of screaming, found at least one interesting way of getting cash into a man’s thong… and generally had the time of my frikkin LIFE.
hey i’ve probably seen you, yelper! Whats your name on yelp I wanna be your buddy
My fiance took the day off work. We bummed around the apartment, I got massages all day, and we went out for dinner at a cheap Chinese please. It was nice.
Pretty much the same thing I do every year: answered the door to trick-or-treaters and watched old horror movies on TV. I think my husband took the kids out and I stayed home, and my parents came over. We snarfed popcorn and Halloween candy and guzzled soda while watching the movies. There was one about a woman who became a Quaker and lived in Bedlam for a while, IIRC. That was odd.
It was back in May, but my wife and I had some friends come over, we grilled burgers, played cornhole and hung out in the yard. After it got too dark we went inside and played Nintendo with friends (Super Nintendo…heh).
I didn’t work that day, but I worked every day around it.
Brendon
King Lear at the Stratford Festival (it was quite good) and dinner at they Keystone Alley Cafe (also quite good).
I was taking an exam on my last one. The one before that I was…taking an exam. Exams seem to be a theme for my birthdays lately.
I never work on my birthday, it’s a little rule I like to live by. This year I had a lie-in, had a lazy start to my day then went to meet my mother in town for a mooch round the shops and a long lunch.
In the evening, 'im indoors cooked dinner for me and we lazed around on the sofa watching films and slurping champagne.
Next year, my birthday’s on a Friday so it’ll be a long weekend for me, and the Levellers are playing the night before at a local venue so I’ve already suggested to 'im indoors that Levs tickets would be a very acceptable buffday pressie!
Yeah, I never work on my birthday, either – and since it’s on 12/31, there’s always at least one day off after it as well.
Last year … hm. Had a friend in from out of town, we went bumming around Old City, hit a couple of used bookstores and went out to lunch – then went to a New Year’s party at my sister’s that night. Very pleasant.
Less than three weeks ago. I worked the night before and the night after, so the birthday itself was pretty quiet. My parents, brother and cousin took me to dinner a few days afterwards, and two days ago a friend came over and gave me huge amounts of snacks and drinks. We played Star Trek Monopoly. What can I say, we’re geeks, and there’s something funny about saying “Starfleet Orders! Incoming Transmission!” or “Captain’s Log, stardate 45377.8” instead of “Community Chest” and shit.
I suspect my ex has a gift for me when I see her this Wednesday.
I worked and my son and his girlfriend took me out to lunch. I went to dinner, too, I think. We take the whole month for our birthday. It’s so hard to fit everything in to a specific day, so we just celebrate it for a month. My family has tons of stuff in June, so we have an all-purpose party, as well.
I had dinner with a friend and went to an off off broadway play.
Friday before - trip to very nice nudist resort I had never been to before. Spent all day soaking up the sun and talking to some very nice folks.
Saturday (actual birthday) - About an hour’s drive from resort to a bed and breakfast on the Eastern Shore of MD. Spent the day sailing the Bay, visiting St. Michael’s, eating crabs, drinking cold beer. Wonderful dinner that night fixed by the chef/owner of the B&B.
Sunday - Back to the resort for the day and then back home.
It was a good one.
Some friends from work went to a bar with me.
I spent the day with my sister and son. Started with yummy breakfast out, did some school shopping for Junior and surprise! my sister paid for my cart too (many thanks to her!!!). With the “chores” done we went to see Ratatouille.
On the drive home we enjoyed the second half of an audio bok that we’d started when I drove him north for his summer visits to assorted relatives.
In the evening we went to a local Chinese buffet for dinner. Not 4 stars but something we all like and no dishes to wash.
Thinking back it was one of my better birthdays in recent years. Thanks for the reminder.
Spent a nice evening at home with the missus. She set up a beer tasting, where we blind-taste-tested about 16 different micro-brews. Also, she had delivered a bake-at-home pizza from the Best Pizza Place in the Universe (St. Louisans on the board will know which one I mean). And, she made a gooey butter cake.
I have the best spouse in the world.
Got drunk in Marrakesh and found the only Moroccan I trusted all holiday - a drunk Moroccan.
