What did you do on your last birthday?

My B-day being December 25th, I walked around a while, sat at home and played CDS, had dinner at a friend’s house and then we drove to NYC and back to look at the decorations, had dinner leftovers for supper, watched TV and went to bed.

Big whoop-de-la-la

Last year my birthday was on a Saturday. In the morning I attended a funeral for a former co-worker. After that I met my grandma, sisters, and nieces for lunch and afterward we went to a fall arts & crafts show. That evening my husband and I ordered in and watched a movie. It was a nice way to spend a birthday … well, except for the funeral part.

This year my birthday’s on a Sunday (this coming Sunday as a matter of fact). I’ll probably celebrate with my family on Saturday by going out to lunch and attending the same craft fair as last year. It’s kind of a tradition. On Sunday I’ll probably just hang out at home and watch the football game.

I almost never do anything for my birthday (I usually won’t even tell people the date) but on my last one (in May), I turned 40 and had just bought a house so I threw a big party for me. I bought beer and snacks and probably had around 60 people total (they came in waves). I kept telling people that it wasn’t a birthday party sonobody would feel obligated to bring anything. It was fun.

I spent the Friday before with two friends in Philadelphia and the Saturday with a third friend in New Jersey. All day Sunday was spent driving back to Tennessee since I got no sleep the night before and Monday was spent recuperating.

I think I worked on Tuesday, which was my actual birthday.

Last birthday?

tries to think Well, I went with my best friend to the casino. We were thinking of hitting the club after supper (they have a good buffet at the casino) but we ended up staying and playing instead. I came out ahead by a little, then we went home.

This year, in almost 2 months, I will be on a retreat that weekend. We are slated to come back home on my birthday but I’m looking forward to it. It’ll be the first time away from my son since he was born, and I expect to just relax.

My birthday was this past Saturday and me, my SO and some friends did the Skyline at C.O.P. .

500 meters long, 100 meter drop, 140 km’s/hr. It was a blast.

Then BBQ, brunch the next day with my family members, and afternoon gathering with the SO’s family.

I worked.

My birthday is in October, and I was still really bummed out. My wife took me out to dinner, but I couldn’t handle it, so we came back.

My birthday too is in October. My last birthday was my 40th, and my brother and his wife threw me a big party. It was only my second birthday since 2000 that I haven’t been in Tokyo, so it was less hard-core drinking than usual.

Last year my birthday was on a Thursday, and I don’t think I did anything special on the day itself. I might have gone out to lunch with some co-workers; I don’t remember. The following Saturday I went out to dinner with my best friends (my mom was supposed to come down from Maryland, but she wound up being sick that weekend).

This year my birthday is this Friday (shoutout to yellowval!), and I will be going to the Washington Nationals baseball game. Which isn’t anything special, because my boyfriend and I have season tickets, but I’ve also booked a limo for us so that we can both drink at the game and not have to worry about driving. So it’ll be like a regular Friday night when there’s a ballgame, just with better transportation. There are baseball games the rest of this weekend – in fact they’re the last 3 home games of the season, and the last baseball games ever at RFK Stadium – so dinner with my mom and best friends will be next weekend.

Last year my birthday was during spring break. I turned 21. Some (fraternity) brothers of mine and I were at Daytona beach, in a hotel room overlooking what was pretty much the pool deck to be on during the week. Ever seen any crazy ass spring break videos? It was pretty much that.

I worked. My wife & kids forgot it was my birthday. I bought my own present. Yay.

The Friday before I worked. Got a delivery of gorgeous flowers from my husband, a card from my co-workers, and was treated to lunch by my manager and some higher-ups, where 2 Speakeasy Ales went straight to my head and made the rest of the afternoon pretty fun. (We actually all go out for lunch every other Friday anyway, and everyone drinks either a glass of wine or a beer or two, this was just the first time they actually had such an affect on me.)

My birthday was on a Saturday this year, and we’d planned on having friends over anyway, so we had a little party at our place and I had a great time.

My oldest son stopped by with a present for me - the Anniversary edition of Tomb Raider for the PC. Still haven’t played it though.

If I had know that it was to be my last birthday I wouldn’t be paying down all my debt.

September birthdays are the best. My husband and I are both September babies (his was the 13th). He got a surprise party on Saturday and karaoke with all his friends. Your plans sound awesome. I hope you have a great time!

Well, I posted this right after, but it may bear repeating. Last month on my 80th birthday, my “kids” and I climbed a 3400-foot mountain. That night we went out and ate about a ton of sushi.

I worked. It wouldn’t occur to me to take the day off just for my birthday.

My boss took me out to lunch, then (since my actual b-day was on a Wednesday) on our regular Thursday Date Night, Himself took me to a nicer restaurant than we usually hit on date night, and we took a couple of friends we really enjoy along with us.

That’s pretty much par for the course for my birthdays–except for my 40th, and we had a party for that, but again, not on the actual birthday, but on the Saturday after it.

HoosierDaddy was out of town so my Mommy had me and the girls over. She made my favorite dinner and peach blueberry pie (also my FAV). She also got one of those margarita bucket things. My dad and I tasted it, thinking, hmmm… this isn’t quite as good as the ones a bartender makes. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that you actually have to add tequila

My girlfriend took me to dinner.

The larger world always celebrates my birthday, though. Big party, lots of noise and activity. People wear silly hats and blow on little party horns. There’s even this glowing ball thing they drop in New York to signify the end of my previous year and the start of my glorious new year of life.

I think everybody in New York is going to be very disappointed when I kick-off in 30 or 40 years.

I was in Paris, nearing the end of a 3 week long trip through Europe with two friends. We wandered around, climbed the Arc de Triomphe, looked at the Eiffel Tower from below, and went to the Louvre. We went out to dinner with a bunch of our hostel-mates at a Tibetan resturaunt in Montmarte, got crepes for desert, and wandered around Sacre Coeur. It was awesome.
