Pizza & iced tea.
We used a smoker bag on the grill to smoke some maple glazed salmon. I made a fruit salad and we had some baked beans. My daughter and I made an icebox cake to round out a simple Fourth.
The salmon was really good!
Just so long as you declared “I’m going to eat you up like Washington ate the lobster backs at Saratoga!”
I would also accept the following: “I’m going to tear you a new Cornwallis”
Pizza for breakfast. Bacon on toasted french bread for lunch and later some cheese. I didn’t go anywhere.
We did a BBQ at casa Aru’sMom
Hackbraten, weisswurst, bratwurst, bauernwurst … american style potato salad, sourkraut, blaukraut was available but nobody had any room, and apfelkuchen for dessert. Sweet bavarian mustard, basic yellow mustard [frenches] and some other yellow american mustard was available as was catsup, onion and assorted other fixings for the burgers/wursts.
Burgers!! Granted, they should have been made on a backyard grill surrounded by kids and dogs by one of our nation’s soldiers, but that was last week (my brother the AF Master Sergeant and his two boys and Bella and Lester the wonder mutts), but instead they were made on a grill in the backroom of a place in Chelsea. Boy that sounds dirty. Anyway, it made sense since we were going to see the best damn fireworks show in America over the Hudson a few blocks away.
Even better, I had a buffalo burger. It doesn’t get more American than gobbling up some bison.
Fireworks were awesome, BTW.
Bowl of oatmeal for breakfast.
Captian D’s fish & shrimp for lunch. With leftovers in the late afternoon.
Salad for PM snack.
A blondie w/ice cream for dessert.
We, obviously, didn’t do the cookout thing either.
90-weight* minestrone soup, chicken cacciatore, garlic bread, green salad
*insert ordinary wooden spoon into soup pot. Watch it stand there >^.^< ~
Coffee all day until about 4, then I had an eggroll I bought in a store which I somehow ate in the car while driving home. Dinner? About 1/4 cup burrito filling (made burritos for the family and ran out of tortillas for my own), and half a bag of Doritos. Hungry later, a stale chocolate chip cookie and half a pint of ice cream.
Nothing. I was diagnosed with gastroenteritis, acidosis, a bladder infection, and extreme dehydration.
Got sent to the emergency room to counteract severe nausea & vomiting. Got put on a drip of 6 1/2 liters of saline solution & whatever-else is in it.
Today I drank some apple juice, an orange pop, some cranapple juice and ate some saltines.
Gonna be some bland times for me, for a while.
Any thoughts if I could at least eat wome watermelon?
Heavens, Atomic Mama!
I’m glad to hear you are better.
Grilled chicken in a yogurt/chipotle marinade, 3 bean salad, corn chips, guacamole, salsa, spinach salad, cupcakes and lots and lots of beer.
A big salad, shrimp cocktail, a screwdriver and a glass of Chardonnay for lunch at Caleco’s.
All of the crab legs, shrimp, oysters on the half shell and mussels I could stand and a crappy Hurricane for supper at Lumiere Casino. How can they not have those tiny little forks or wine?!?!
Didn’t even watch the fireworks; watched “Living Out Loud” and “The Professional,” both of which I’ve seen many, many times.
Lunch at the pub was a bratwurst on a bun, one BBQ’d rib, and a bite or two of beans. Later on at home I made some BBQ chicken legs and sausage, Ranch Style Beans, homemade coleslaw and corn on the cob. No dessert, but we didn’t need any!
Bacon & eggs for breakfast.
Skipped lunch.
For dinner, prime rib, smoked salmon, mahi mahi w/ mushrooms, caesar salad, antipasta, various cheeses, deli meat slices, ceviche, beets, asparagus, wild rice pilaf, calamari, scallops, green beans w/ almond slices, sauteed potatoes, pineapple, strawberries, carrot cake & key lime pie. Yeah, it was a buffet.
A bag of rice cakes and coffee for brunch.
Two broccoli and cheese hot pockets an some mango ice/vanilla ice cream for supper.
I gotta celebrate more.
Everyone was busy on the 4th, but for the 5th, I made real* barbecued ribs and roasted corn on the cob (photos in the link)
*Slow cooked over a low fire, not grilled ribs which are also good but not the same thing.
Breakfast: Mom fried up bacon and eggs - nom. Also had toast, bananas, and grapes.
Lunch: Sandwiches and salads (tuna, chicken, past, garden)
Dinner: Hobo potatoes, brats, and hot dogs off the grill, more garden salad. NO ONE thought to get baked beans. So wrong.
Desert: Peppermint bon bon ice cream at the carnival. I also snitched some cotton candy from my grand-niece.
I was at work. We ordered a pizza.
I made teriyaki chicken kebabs and rice.
Regards,
Shodan
