What did you eat for the 4th of July?

So, I had some nice organic lamb shoulder chops from my in laws farm that I didn’t know what to do with… one of my neighborhood friends happened to have some mint and oregano growing, so I ended up grinding up the shoulder and made some koftas with it. Grilled them up, served them with pitas, Tzatziki, etc. and they turned out great!

Gefilte fish and cholent.

Can I help it if you goyim make the holiday on Shabbos?

It is not a Wisconsin 4th of July without bratwurst.

Indian food buffet in Chicago! Yummy. We were aiming for an Ethiopian restaurant but the intended restaurant looked like it had been closed for months! Here we were worrying about not having called ahead because we thought they might be closed for the 4th.

Grilled Chiavetta’s, grilled corn on the cob, homemade coleslaw, and lots of Molson.

Alton Brown’s Pork Wellington. Though I substituted the thyme for sage & rosemary from the garden. I think it was a great addition.

A friend made it on a camping trip last weekend, but with bread dough instead of the puff pastry.

A big winner, served with corn on the cob.

Nah, the big celebration is after sundown, anyway, so you’d have been OK.
