What did you think of the film Precious with Gibourey Sidibe in it?

Well I was just wondering if anybody else had seen it. Well it is a very powerful film and it’s one of those films that’s difficult to watch in parts but I thought it was really good. So what about it? What did you think of it?

I thought it was painful and depressing as hell. Well done movie but damn. (former Social worker)

Yep – powerfully effective and emotionally draining, with a revealing look at a side of life most of us never see but many are experiencing in real life. It’s another in a long list of great movies that, while they gave me a lot to think about, I have no desire to see again.

I think it’s a very good movie - well-written, well-acted, well-directed. I’m happy I saw it, but I don’t think I ever want to see it again. It’s too gut-wrenching.

I haven’t and it’s not b/c I didn’t want to. I don’t think I could take it emotionally. I can take all the “things blowed up real good” type movies, all day. I like them. I find how CGI has changed special effects interesting.

I also have my issues with real physical violence (I know it’s all acting and camera shots, etc.) But I have my own personal issues, and I know I will lose it if I try to watch it.

very interesting all of this. And I was just wondering if there are any other comments about it. I didn’t count all the words but presumably if it was shown at certain times on certain channels they would have to keep their bleep on throughout. Of course there are also some excellent scenes at the hospital and in the school. Any other things to do with it? Any other good bits appear in it?

My favorite joke about it was on “The Office”. Michael Scott was listening to an audio book version of the novelization of the movie “Precious” based on the novel “Push”.
