What do Gazan civilians have to do to qualify for greater support from the DNC?

I had the guts to protest the Apartheid government when they were killing my schoolmates, what makes you think I wouldn’t have the guts to protest Hamas if I lived in Gaza?

We were schoolkids.

It’s good to know oneself, but maybe don’t project that onto anyone else, maybe?

Duly noted.

Repeating the same false claim over and over again doesn’t make it true. It is obviously possible to help out civilians without helping out combatants. It’s been the standard for warfare since the Geneva convention.

Your position is essentially dogma. You need to believe this is true in order to stick with your conventions. It is not a statement that you have come to through factual analysis of the situation.

The idea that feeding children or limiting attacks to combatants and such help promote the genocide of Israel is utterly absurd.

The only thing that keeps it at “wanting” and not “doing” are Israel’s actions to prevent it.

…like keeping thousands of Palestinians locked up without trial or charge for years before October 7th? Illegally occupying Gaza and the West Bank?

Israel has a well documented history of human rights abuses against the Palestinian people that goes back decades. Some examples:

Israel’s actions before October the 7th didn’t “prevent genocide”. It was cruel, it was inhumane, and it violated international humanitarian law.

I think this thread has drifted into a general Gaza thread. Probably inevitable, but just noting that we seem to have stopped talking about Democratic leadership (not the DNC, specifically, as already pointed out).

Moderating:

Very much so. Since polite moderator notes don’t seem to work, I’m going to put my foot down. I’m asking the OP, @Velocity if they feel if there’s any more worthwhile discussion to be had on the actual OP. If not, the next time we go for an extended exchange on the origins of the conflict, or the justifications thereof without useful mention of the OP’s direct question:

I will close this thread completely, though I will move it to the Pit if @Velocity asks - please PM me about the continuation of the thread. Otherwise, a last reminder, if you don’t want to use one of the existing threads on the subject, spin off your own thread to go over this ground again.

How to Reply as a linked Topic

Click Reply, in the upper left corner of the reply window is the reply type button, looks like a curving arrow point to the right.

Choose Reply as linked topic and it starts a new thread. As an example, you can choose GD, IMHO or The Pit for it.

That is actually the best method.

Update - I’ve spoken with the OP, and they agree that the conversation on the actual OP is unrecoverable. I will note that it’s been over 30 posts since the DNC has been mentioned at all. As such, this thread will remain closed.
