My birthday is coming up in just over a month, and I have to make a gift list for my family. Since I have nearly everything I need, and can afford most anything I want, this gets a little bit challenging.
So brainstorm for me - give me some ideas for stuff I can put on my birthday list. If you want to be realistic, $50 is about as much as Mom needs to spend. Of course, it could be fun to list some real fantasy gifts as well.
Books, music, trinkets, jewelry…as long as she knows your tastes… Or think of some obscure small appliance you’ve always wanted to play with, like a fondue pot or other such silly thing that you’d never buy yourself.
No, you guys aree all wrong, actually REALLY wrong. Everyone knows that a BMW M3 is at the top of the “I want” list. A PS2 sucks, and they are over rated…
I love Gift Certificates! I know you like to read so ask for gift certificates to your favorite bookstore. I don’t know about you, but I love to go to the boostore with a little mad money and take my time looking at all the books before making my selections.
You can also ask for gift certificates for movies and restaurants. You’re fixin’ to have an out of town guest so you can use them for a little entertainment (the outside of the house variety).
As far as fun stuff, I once received a manicure as a birthday gift. That was really nice. A trip to a spa would be nice too. Especially if some hunky masseur named Sven gives you a massage.
You want the same thing I want: your very own tropical island with nearly naked young men waiting on you hand and foot and seeing to your every desire.
Barring that, a day at one of the Elizbeth Arden’s Red Door salons.
I was just thinking about this last night, as my birthday’s coming up soon too. I hate having to ask people for things; half the fun of presents is finding out what people think you’ll like.
But there’s something I want, badly, and I have one friend who can help me out with it. And I’ve wanted it for ages, but haven’t had the guts to ask. So last night I fired off an email, asking if, despite the fact that he’s an awesome musician and I pretty much suck, he’d mind getting together and jamming one evening.
He wrote back saying he’d love to.
So, my suggestion is to ask for experiences, not things.
Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s someone I need to invite to the zoo for an afternoon…
