What do members of PETA feed their pets?

Tiggrkitty and I were talking over dinner the other night, and somehow, that question came up.

Now, I know that one of the arguments for human vegetarianism is that humans aren’t meant to eat meat (or is that a vegan argument?). But, dogs and cats certainly are (take arguments to the contrary to Great Debates please).

Another argument for vegetarianism (veganism) is the animal cruelty found in slaughterhouses that provide the meat that we find in our supermarkets.

So knowing that, what do members of PETA feed their pets? Although I’ve never seen it, I’m quite sure that there are pet foods that are soy based, and don’t have any animal products as an ingredient. I’m also quite sure that the Alpo factory doesn’t get the meat for its pet food from some fantasy land where all animals run wild and free until they die of natural causes.

So, do PETA members feed their pets soy-based pet foods?

A friend of mine is a former PETA member. He left the group after they adopted the platform that people should not have pets, period. They were saying that current pets would be grandfathered in, but no new pets should be sold. They equated it to slavery.

Given that, I doubt that any fanatical PETA members have pets.

I find it too easy to imagine a PETA zealot with 20 dogs. If you ask why he has pets, he’d boot your ass out the door, because they’re his roomates.

These are the same people that are running commercials saying cows shouldn’t be milked, right?

Pearls before swine.

"They don’t have ‘PETS,’ they turn other pet owners pets loose to fend for themselves.

All too many pets would starve or be killed in some inhumane manner if left to fend for themselves.

Smart thinkers, those! Or is it they or them?
