What do middle-class and up people do at parties when they're over 30?

We mostly have either dinner parties or parties centered around a holiday, where the following ensues
Good food, good beer/wine or whatever spirit pleases the attendees.
Discussion of hobbies/recreation as we are all retired. “So where did you go and where are you going next?”
Discussions of how to fix this or that; pretty much what might be expected from retired engineers, scientists, and medical folks. So some medical issues can crop up, but mostly just good advice on how to solve problems involving physical objects…as an example, how to best drill holes in cement to erect a cabana…
Swapping info on recipes, good sources for getting work done on cars, homes and so forth.
Spinning tales from our early years, especially on how we worked our way through college.
Everyone has contributions on what volunteer work they are doing, and what exercise program is good, and so forth.
Nobody gets drunk, no fights, no discussions of politics unless all attendees are of the same political persuasion, no discussion of sports.
Almost no dissing of other folks either as individuals or as a member of a group.
Sounds boring, but it is actually quite satisfying.

I went to a party last weekend. We ate and drank and talked and laughed and everyone got home at a reasonable hour. It sounds kind of lame but I think it’s safe to say a fine time was had by all.

I would have tossed some bags (aka corn hole) if they were available.

55 here.

MORE booze - when we were young we couldn’t afford it. Then we had kids to look after and set a good example for. Now we can afford it and can afford a Lyft home if we need to.

The last party we co-hosted was a backyard concert with live music, followed by dinner (delivery pizza). It was BYOB. While the concert was happening, most people listened, but during set breaks and afterwards there was lots of catching up.

(We have that 7 people D&D party every Friday night. That involves an hour long social hour where dinner is consumed and we talk about things (often History, members of the D&D group are big History buffs), then the rest of the evening is supposed to be concentrating on playing D&D - with varying success.)
