What do the dopers think of the Kate Middleton brouhaha

To be clear I don’t think anyone is implying that was article was an actually fraud, where fake images were claimed to be real.

Its pretty bog standard Daily Mail disinformation where it’s implied the photos go with the story but in fact are totally unrelated. I’m sure you can see examples of it(and much worse besides) in every issue of the Daily Mail. But in the context of this story if definitely adds to the feeling that something is being covered up.

Well, I’m pretty indifferent to the monarchy, but this is a nice safe little conspiracy theory, that doesn’t matter for anything, and following it is sort of like reading “cozy murder mysteries”.

Who is, for all of that, just one person.

A few civilizations got to the “god-king” stage.

In case it’s of interest, I’m creating a spinoff thread in FQ about an aspect of super injunctions that I find confusing.

The Palace has stated her surgery had nothing to do with cancer. Also, not all cancer treatment is the same or has the same effects. And finally, there are other diseases that have treatments that leave you looking less than your best.

Two people; I listed the titles of the king and queen. “Permaisuri” derives from Sanskrit parameśvarī, ‘supreme lady’.

Ah.

My bad. I did try to parse that but the effort broke down very quickly, before getting to the completely normal conjunction.

Funnily enough I watched a video on a similar topic regarding the title Prince of Wales. Originally it meant “Prince” as in "the Roman title “Princeps” and was taken by a “Petty King” who conquered a bunch of Wales and wanted a title that showed that he wasn’t yet another king or even a high king, but something higher on the totem pole - and so he borrowed a title from Rome.

Eventually when the English monarchy took over Wales, they started giving the title to a Welsh noble who they wanted to elevate above the others as a sort of “middle management” role.

And then when the monarchy started to rule Wales more directly they just made the king’s heir Prince of Wales, and that became a tradition.

Not to be confused with Psy’s sexy lady

This is pretty much my attitude. They’re such inconsequential people that it’s easy to think of it as just a bit of silly story time.

Ha! I’d forgotten what a hoot that was. Thanks!

Very ironically as originally “princeps” meant the exact opposite (in theory at least). It meant “first citizen” and it was adopted by Augustus to show that he wasn’t setting himself up as king, oh no siree, he was just a regular citizen, like everyone else, just a little better extra. The Republic finished you say? Oh no! Nothing could further from the truth, it’s alive and well and under the protection of the “first citizen”

Yep! He even kept the Senate around, just to show how dedicated to the old ways he was.

So TMZ is swearing they have current photos and video of Kate wandering through the market, and she may be a bit thinner than before. Or she may not be. It’s hard to tell.

I just saw this clip on the news. She looks pretty much as she always has, though a bit thinner, I think.

That’s a nice theory but it’s not going to work in the real world. Once it turned into a mystery and maybe a conspiracy then all bets are off. The story will come out sooner or later.

Washington Post had somewhat of the same idea:

Some larger farms have opened stores selling their own, and other locally grown/made, produce, often along with homeware products, gifts etc. You’ll often find a cafe or restaurant on site too, so it’s basically a nice day out for the family. Here’s an example of one that’s particularly fancy: Dalesford Farm Shop.

Others have answered this, so I’ll just add that if you want to see an example, watch “Clarkson’s Farm” on Amazon. It’s a series (two seasons now, I think) about Jeremy Clarkson, formerly of Top Gear, spending time on the farm he previously bought as a hobby, making a serious go of trying to learn agricultural management. He decides at one point to add a farm shop to the grounds, so you’ve got multiple episodes examining how it’s designed and built, what goods are stocked, how the local town reacts, etc etc.

I think Clarkson is a giant ass, but the show leans into that (the more experienced farmers in the area correctly regard him as a buffoon), so it turns out to be pretty entertaining and informative.
