what do the kids like nowadays? (b-day present)

So I have to go to my bestest friends daughters birthday party on Sat,She’s turning 12.
I’ve known his kids since they were born and they see me as an uncle but am stumped as to birthday presents.
Im thinking something in the range of 30-40 dollar range.(tight budget)

Generally speaking, what would a 12yr old girl like for a present?

Gift card. Ask her parents what stores she likes. If you can’t ask, pick something like Target where you can get all sorts of different stuff. Really, if you don’t know the kid well, it’s impossible to guess; kids have really diverse tastes, particularly at that age.

Otherwise, I second gift card. Amazon.com is always good- they sell everything.

In some malls you can get gift cards that will work for almost every store in the mall. I get those alot for other peoples birthday’s that way they can get clothes, a movie, cd, video game or they can blow it all at a Starbucks.

I’m sure she already has this . . . High School Musical DVD. I have no idea what that is, but I hear my nieces and nephews universally all love it despite pretending they don’t (depending on age).
