Back in the early 2000’s I was sure that it was happening (full disclosure, I am a scientist working in aerospace and know many people who work on climate science) and I looked around at the politics and denial and I was sure that it wouldn’t last long. I was sure that by 2015, 2020 at the latest, nobody would deny that it was happening and that it was a problem we needed to tackle. I mean, look at the the global statistics:
[ul]
[li]The five warmest years in the global record have all come in the 2010s[/li][li]The 10 warmest years on record have all come since 1998[/li][li]The 20 warmest years on record have all come since 1995[/li][/ul]
But I find that it has been increasingly politicized and denialism is in many respects stronger than ever. Our President and the overwhelming majority of the most powerful party in the US denies that it is happening. It’s a very sad thing.
Still, I am happy to see that the percentage of people on the dope that think it is false or natural has declined. Little steps.
