I mean, besides using it as a blog and updating people on your life. I keep hearing people talk about joining communities, but I couldn’t found my way around that. So far, the only people that have posted comments are the friend who convinced me to start updating and some guy who seemed to have a problem with me being anti-american. So what exactly do I do…? Where can I join these communities that everyone else seems to be a part of but me?
This is really sad. I’ve had my account for more than two years and I know less than the newbies!
Just, you know… look around. Read your friend’s journal, check out his friends, their friends, communities any of them are in, search on the things you have listed as interests and find other interesting people, look at their info and find other things to look at and be interested in… you get out of lj as much as you put into it. It can be very blah or very consuming. I’ve met a lot of people through my involvement in lj that have a huge positive effect on my life.
Other than the occasional update, I spend a lot of time in communities, and I help over at LJ’s support area.
At the top of userinfo pages for communities there are links to both friend and join communities in order to post to them.
Personally, I think ‘debate’ is an excellent community, and you can guess what goes on there.
