So in all the movies I’ve seen on the commodities exchange (Trading Places, et al) people always talk about ‘Pork bellies’ as one of the commodities. But in a discussion with my friends, none of us could logically figure out what the hell one does with a pork belly. It’s my understanding bacon, pork chops, pork rinds, etc. come from other parts of the pig…but not the belly, right?
Considering other things on the commodities exchange, like copper, which has millions of uses, I’m left to ask, just what are the thousands of types of products that start out with a pig’s stomach as the main ingredient? Presumably there are tons of them out there, but I can’t think of any off the top of my head…
