2017 Honda Civic EX-T coupe in blue Aegean metallic. It’s a gorgeous car.
My brother in law had an Odyssey and I would borrow it from time to time - an excellent car that doesn’t feel like a mini-van to drive.
They are a lot of fun. I had the non-WS-6 model for awhile. You have more skill than I do, to have enough experience driving it in the ice that you say it’ll handle it. Or bravery. Probably both. I liked it, but I found it uncomfortably easy to swap ends in anything exceeding a light dew on the road. I really wanted the 275 or 315 rubber on your car (and I probably needed a few HP driving courses). It does get much better mileage than you’d think, especially on the highway, and it would cruise at 100 like it was nothing. At 130, it started to get looser than I wanted, but 100 was no problem in west Texas.
Did you tinker with the engine? Put a blower/turbo on it, monkey with the tune or cams? AIUI, the LS1 can give a silly amount of horsepower with not much extra work or $$$ piled into it. Mine had 305, and I understand that 400-450 is pretty easy to wring out. With added fuel costs, of course.
The Prius I have now…is less sporty. I still love the damned thing. Very low maintenance, comfortable, spacious—I don’t need to tell you about the gas mileage. It’s about the perfect driving appliance, albeit sportier than you’d think 0-25 or so.
I remember reading somewhere that there are two kinds of Prius drivers: the hypermiling (expletive deleted) who coast from stop light to stop light, as they gaze at their iPhones, in the fast lane, and are the bane of most other drivers… Then there are the second kind, who are giggling at the computer telling they they’re still getting 40 MPG while going 90 on the highway.
Houston traffic has me at the point of saying, “Bring on the autonomous driving cars!” At least the computer will be paying attention to the outside world then.
Mine is a 2011 Mazda2 5 speed hatchback that I adore. It’s bright red
I don’t know what it says about me, maybe that I like cheap zippy little cars with room enough for a big dog or 6 bags of horse feed?
Runner-up is a 2003 F-250 (diesel, 6 speed, manual windows, plastic interior, also adore it) that I use to haul a gooseneck horse trailer, get hay, bigger loads of feed, that sort of thing. That says I’m a horse-person
My husband has a Mazda CX5 as his daily, but we still have his old Scion XB. It’s (I think) the 2nd year of the original, lighter body style, still runs really well, and has 325k+ on it! I essentially made him get a new car a couple of years ago when he was doing regular trips from SC to TN and I didn’t want a midnight call to come rescue him.
Problem is, those people know about them (probably have a garage full of them) and pick them apart and offer nothing. I’m looking for someone who has always wanted one and never got the chance. That’s who’s gonna give me $4k.
(And I really think that’s a fair price, honestly)
edit: Now that I think about it, I’m going to $4500. ![]()
No, I have left the engine stock since it is my daily driver. These engines can put out some serious HP but I’m not racing and that is a good way to break things. I am on a LS1 message board and there are a lot of modifications that can be done. Fortunately they are still a car/engine that can be worked on easily. But I don’t think I need any more power than it has right now.
Mine’s a 2015 BMW 528i. I love it, it’s paid off, and I’ll probably drive it into the ground if it doesn’t get too expensive to maintain. I work at home and don’t drive that much anymore, so it stays low-mileage and in good shape.
Spouse has a leased 2018 Chevy Volt, which he likes a lot (it’s a good commuter car, he hardly ever has to buy gas because he runs it on electric most of the time, and it lets him drive in the HOV lane solo). He also has a 2018 Ducati Diaval motorcycle, which he rides to work about as often as he drives the Volt.
First post!
2000 Toyota 4Runner. Love this car, it’s got 200K+ miles on it, barely any issues after all these years. Not sure when it’ll be on its last legs but hoping to get a few more years out of it!
Our almost-daily driver (we don’t always need to drive) is:
Sylvia, a silver 2015 Subaru Impreza Sport wagon.
What does it say about us? Not as much as you’d think. We do not eat granola. I would not want to drive in the snow without AWD, so it says we were suckers for believing what everyone was saying about the terrible winter that was coming (and didn’t).
Do we like her? She’s a wonderful improvement over Jackie, the 2012 Nissan Versa sedan, which was one of the cheapest cars available when we desperately needed a new car and couldn’t afford one, so the family bought us a car.
Do we want a change? We have a fantasy that we buy a motor home, get our band logo painted on the side and travel around the country, performing at Celtic Festivals, Renaissance Faires, and churches. Until then, we will stick with Sylvia and any other Subaru as needed. We should get at least another 7 and a half years out of Sylvia.
2000 Accord. I drive one day a week, about 10 miles away so it’s not a big deal as long as it starts and gets me there and back. I wish the A/C hadn’t gone out. I wish someone hadn’t smashed in to it and caved in the back driver side door and drove away last year. But it has a sunroof and a radio so I’m good.
Welcome to the … place?
