Romans 2:6-8, - God “will give to each person according to what he has done.” To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.
Remember that Yahweh loves EVERYONE and does not want any to perish!!
John 3:16, - “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, [1] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
How very true archangel! How very true! You get eternal life and security from following Jesus. I can’t wait to get to heaven just to see Jesus face to face! What a glorious day that will be! No more pain or suffering! No more tears! No more sorrow! No more anger! No more torment! Oh, I can’t wait! Jesus, come back soon!
God bless!

There is a reason for everything, no matter what happens to us.
Except for the first-born of Egypt.
And everyon living in Sodom and Gomorrah without the good sense to offer their daughters for gang rape.
And everyone withth emisfortune to already be living in Canaan when God decided to give it to the Israelites.
And every living creature on the face of the earth that wasn’t close enough to crowd onto Noah’s boat.
And small children who make fun of bald prophets.
And . . .

Spiritus Mundi - Could you please quote the Scripture passage for me? I want to check something with that, but I can’t remember where it is.
Please and Thank you!
God bless!
Victoria Rose.
P. S. I believe it was stated by some member of the SDMB that they do what they please. Am I right? I think so. Enough said. Besides, I don’t go to the bulletin boards very much, and I’m enjoying replying to you guys! I’ve been too busy with my studies and my website and the 2 webrings that I run to bother going to the BB’s. I’m enjoying myself one last time before the end of the year.

We make the choice. The decision is ours. If we want to suffer eternal torment, then so be it. If, on the other hand, we want to spend eternity in heaven (and who, in their right mind wouldn’t?), we chose to follow Jesus Christ.
The decision is yours.

It was everyone living in Sodom and Gomorrah without the good sense to accept Lot’s daughters for gang rape. (Gen 19:8)
Oh, and what do you get for following Jesus Christ? You get to walk in the Jesus poop behind him, of course.
You are taking Genesis 19:8 out of context. What is being referred to is homosexuality. Homosexuality is so abhored by the Lord, and Lot knew it, that he offered his daughters instead of allowing all the men, young and old, to commit homosexual acts with his visitors. Read the scripture. You’ll see that I’m right.

woooo ya know…I didn’t realize that there were so many people out there that despise anyone claiming to be a Christian. You know guys…if I were perfect I wouldn’t need Jesus Christ…but because I am far from perfect…I need him and always will. I will not ever be perfect…even on my best days and I will not ever be able to answer all your questions or “walk the walk” the way YOU think I should…but praise be to God… I am not judged by you in the end…but by the one who cleanses me of my sin… and of whom in the eyes of man I am unworthy of; but in his eyes I am more than worthy. I live by faith…I cannot match the standards that you require of me…and I will not try.
Well, I read the scripture … but it’s not at all clear whether it’s the homosexual nature of the act that was abhored, or the fact that the guys the Sodomites wanted to commit it with were Yahweh’s messengers.
(And don’t go quoting Leviticus on me, here. Many acts that God had no problem with in Genesis were later forbidden in Leviticus.)
Which one? You obviously found the story of Lot already.
So far as I am aware, no one has ever been banned from this board for any reason except for their activities on this board, and then never without fair warning that they were violating the rules of teh community. It is a pity that all boards are not run in the same manner.
You have entirely missed the point of my objection to this passage. Lot offered his virgin daughters to be gang-raped by a crowd. For this act, he was judged holy and spared from destruction. You say that homosexuality was abhorrent to the Lord. So what. Lot offered his children for gang-rape, and the Lord found it holy. He could have simply told the crowd, “no.” Instead, he pimped his daughters to a mob. And God rewarded him for it.
Fuzzy-wuzzy:
Nope. I have many Christian friends. What I lack is any respect for a faith that places a literal interpretation of scripture above the moral values that the very same scripture often espouses. That does not mean that I despise the people that hold said faith. I despise very few people, and those only because they have given me specific, individual reason to do so.
However, I do not respect people who use their religion as a tool for confrontation, which is what I felt was happening earlier. I have no knowledge and little interest in the details of what occured in that forum. In this forum, I saw many new posters behaving in a manner which was not consistent with the values of this community. I reacted accordingly.

Lot was not judged holy because he tried to give his daughters to the townsmen. He was judged righteous because he protected the visitors, whom he knew to be angels.
As for those that think a loving God wouldn’t let anyone perish (i.e. giving the choice to follow or perish is “not loving”), heaven is God’s home-shouldn’t He have the right to say how one enters? I think so and He does say how to enter-faith in the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. Sorry, “goodness” has nothing to do with it.
God is about love, but He is also about obedience, faith, fear, justice, righteousness, holiness…
Hi folks, been doing a little bit more reading over on ‘that other message board’. Apparently, Archangel also believes that babies go to hell when they die if the parents are not ‘saved’. They are ‘unclean’ and cannot enter heaven as such.
