I don’t have to pay anything, in Australia Medicare is part of your taxes.
I do have private health care, which is subsidised. I pay about $150 per month for a family of three, but that’s mainly to cover dental for my son who is in braces. It also gives us access to private hospitals and the like, but we’ve never actually used that bit of it - when we’ve been ill enough to be in the hospital it’s been in a public one.
