What do you think about Drake?

That was my reaction too. We have a major thoroughfare and a bay in Marin County named after him. I visited that area just recently (Point Reyes), so that was the first thing that came to my mind.

What do I know about Drake?
I think Amanda Bynes had a thing for him when she was going through her mental illness phase?
I saw his picture once and mistaked him for David Blaine.
Never heard any of his music.
And that’s about it.

Do you generally like hip hop or R&B? If not, don’t worry about it. This isn’t for you. It’s like when classical music enthusiasts complained about Jazz in the 20, when Jazz enthusiasts complained about Rock and Roll in the 50s, etc etc.

If yes, what do you like? Can you be more specific about what it is about his music that doesn’t work for you? If it’s just drum machines, well, that’s modern music for you.

I like Drake ok. He isn’t the best (right now that’s Kendrick Lamar. Like seriously), but I like him. I like his R&B less, it’s sort of boring. Hotline Bling bored me to tears. But that’s the way modern R&B is going. You didn’t have an option that covered my feelings, so I voted that I quite liked him.

I’m a fan of his equations.

I thought you meant this Drake

I think my son watched it a few times.

No matter how insulated from pop culture you THINK you are…you’ve heard of “the motto

…It took me awhile to not see him as “that wheelchair Degrassi kid” but I’ve always liked Drake’s stuff.

Nope

Yes, he didn’t grow up poor, but he is a light skinned black/Jewish Torontonian. A multicultural reflexion of today’s society, which gives him the “right” to draw (even racial slurs) from this heritage.

I’m not very insulated from pop culture and I have never heard that song.

Started from the Bottom, Hotline Bling, and being featured on other artists songs
are more pervasive in culture than it.

Drake doesn’t even try to carry a tune. It’s excruciating to listen to.

I guess I’m wrong, but as ‘the motto’ says: memento mori (MEMO!)

Yeah, I think the movie got put on hold too.

Waiting to see what number 4 is all about as well.

Declan

It’s not about his money or his race, but his cultural upbringing what baffles me- I mean that he didn’t grow up in a world where the use of that particular racial slur was commonplace, so it feels like an ugly affectation coming from him.

Celine Dion and who?

I can think of a few but I’m wondering who is on your list.

As far as Drake goes I’m fucking sick of him. I don’t especially like his music and he is constantly being talked about in Canadian radio and news services.

I don’t like his stuff regardless of whether he is Drake, Drizzle, D. Izzle or any other iteration of his adopted name.

He impresses me as the latest “big name” of whom I wouldn’t be able to think of a single song he/she does. Big name everywhere from The Daily Show to the comics.

I would assume the Biebs, but that’s just me.

Probably the weeknd’s on that list too (another great singr).

I’ve never heard of Drake or ‘the motto’.

I’ve heard of Adele and ‘Skyfall’.

That’s a bit presumptuous, no? [emphasis’ mine]

My favorite line from a parody I just watched:

This music sounds like when you’re on hold
Waiting til some one picks up
