So how much longer will the utterly horrible type of music known as “rap” be popular?
Just as long as the music you like lasts. Even though other people hate it.
As long as lots of people listen to it.
That was easy. Gimme another one.
47 years.
It’s really up to the Rothschilds, isn’t it?
Doesn’t this belong in IMHO?
Cafe Society, actually. Right under the bridge.
Dude’s gonna need some solarcaine after that one.

There’s a case to be made for this as a Pit thread (it’s a rant), an IMHO thread (it’s soliciting opinions), or a Cafe Society thread (it’s about music). It definitely isn’t a General Questions thread.
I figure it fits best in Cafe Society, so that’s where I’ve moved it.

Something new, or some new spin on something old, will come along and replace it, just as every form of popular music has been replaced (as the most popular music form) before it. Don’t be in such a hurry though. Odds are you won’t like it either.
I’ll admit there’s damn little rap I’ll listen to. I mourn ‘classic’ rock. Still, this is the way of things.

Or you have something against the Cafe Society moderators.
That one wasn’t even fun, and was mostly coherent. 2 out of 10.
For as long as it chaps your hide, I reckon.
It’s only 35 years old. It’s just getting started.
Rap does not suck. Most rap sucks, but then again, most music sucks.
This is the part where I would list a few rappers who I think are just amazing, but I doubt the OP would give any of them a fair chance.
So rap could run for President??
Kewl.
This article claims rap was born in Jamaica.
Hopefully it’ll have a longer run than “country” music.
Fad or not, it’s here to stay.
That’s all you’ve got?!
You joined the SDMB just to ‘rant’ about rap?
