What do you think of Audioslave?

I’m undecided. The first song I heard by them was Cochise. I hate that song. I decided there’s no way I could like a band that produced that song.

Then I heard Like a Stone. I love that song! What you Are and Shadow on the Sun aren’t bad either. Those are the only songs I’ve heard by the band.

I’ve learned Audioslave is the band members from Rage Against the Machine with Soundgarden’s lead singer. I wasn’t the biggest Rage fan (by a longshot) but I did like Soundgarden.

Does anyone own their self-titled CD? Is it worth it?

Yes I do, and yes it is worth it.

Well, I like the late Rage very much, I like the late Soundgarden very, very much, and I like Audioslave a lot too. Cochise is a hell of a butt-kicking song. Great riff, great guitar sound and a lame-ass solo (as usual by Tom Morello), great vocals (as usual by Chris Cornell). Chris’ scream in the middle of the song gives me goose bumps every time I hear it.

To aswer the OP: as William said, yes I do, and yes it is worth it.

That album is on my “List of CDs to Buy”. I just have to get my lazy ass over to the store and get it!

I bought it on the strength of “Cochise”, fully expecting the rest of the album to be a disappointment. I was very surprised. It was the only album I’ve bought in quite a while with more than one good song (coughthevinescough). All around a good album.

Welcome to the boards, William and thanks to all who replied.

I think I’ll buy it. If I buy it from Amazon, along with a DVD I should have had by now, I qualify for free super dooper saver shipping or what have you.

Yeah, I bought this one and Queens of the Stone Age a while ago based on the strength of the two radio-friendly singles. I like QOTSA better, but I like Audioslave a lot, too. It’s like Rage with no rapping, better singing, and much less political jabbering. It’s basically what you think it’d be if you combined Cornell with the Rage boys.

I like it, and think it was worth it.

To me it is another SoundGarden, but I liked SoundGarden, so I have no complaints! I think they’re very good.

Even though it’s a pretty good hard rock disc, I don’t think it lives up to Rage. I have a strong hunch Zach DeLaRocha’s solo album is going to show Audioslave up. As mentioned, Queens of the Stone Age is kick ass.

Lame ass guitar solos by Morello? Never before have I heard such a thing!
I loved Rage and have all of their CDs. I like Audioslave and I don’t own their CD. Of course, I don’t buy CDs anymore. I use Kazaa and Nero and make mixes for myself…
