Right. What are the odds on that happening?
So how do you shower-shavers see what you’ve done and what you haven’t? I’d like to shave in the shower, but I need a mirror in front of me, which is a bit of a problem.
Enquiring minds want to know.
You just feel around for whiskers that survived the first pass. It’s not necessary to see them at all.
I’m still in the dark ages, using three-bladed disposables. I switched over to three-bladed razors because even though they cost twice as much as two-bladed razors, they last three times as long. I certainly don’t understand men shelling out for the fancy, top of the line razors with expensive replacement cartriges. I’m sticking with disposables, which I hear are up to four blades now.
I’m rather surprised that this crazy one-upmanship between the razor companies is actually providing me with better razors at a lower overall price. It looked like just another glitzy marketing scam, didn’t it?
I know where my face is. Of course, I don’t have sideburns, a goatee or soul patch, so that makes it a lot easier. Dunno, it’s like putting in contact lenses without a mirror. The first couple times is wierd, and then pfffffft, I got this puppy wired.
I have a mirror in my shower. No hu-hu.
How do you see anything in it for the steam?
I’m a head shaver as well as a beard shaver so the Fussion works great for me.
I have to admit though, I still haven’t found a use for that SIXTH blade in the back.
Anyone else?
I have a plastic fog-free shower mirror that attaches to the wall of the shower with suction cups.
You are basically correct on that. I have run out of shaving cream many times and have tried to improvise. Regular hand soap is the worst of the bunch although you can get it to work. Liquid soaps and shampoo work fine. I have even heard that peanut butter can work if you get it wet. However, I had to use hair conditioner about a month ago for a week because I was too heavily scheduled to buy shaving cream. That stuff works incredibly well as shaving cream. I have never had such a close shave despite trying several kinds of razor (and not really caring about closeness in a general sense). The only problem was some small pimples which tends to happen when you switch shaving systems.
I don’t understand the whole fascination with shaving any more than I do with deluxe toilet paper. If the whole thing is quick, effective, and gets the job done, then that is all I need. Ultra-close shaving and old-school shaving baffles me in general. I tend to look at men that use anything other than purely utilitarian razors as defective in a few geekish, neurotic, ignorant or gullible ways that are not good.
Yes, we do.
my beard is not heavy enough, A two blade is fine for me. People will have other opinions though.
Well, I don’t use it, and I currently have just the Mach 3…and a beard…but had I the Fusion and was beardless, I’d use it for trimming the sideburns and around the facial area.
When they brought the Fusion out I swore I’d not be suckered in.
I was but have to say it’s the best shave ever…heck it almost makes shaving a pleasure
Well, yeah. That’s very true, of course, but other products are lacking the inherent humour of shaving cream. I mean, I’ve never actually pulled any shaving cream-based pranks, but it’s nice to know I can. It’s a humourous situation just holding the can of the stuff in your hand - instant frat boy.
I got the 5 blader in the mail (gotta love SlickDeals). If I had paid for it, I would have been PISSED! It gave me a horrible shave, and succeeded mostly in just taking off an extra layer of skin. I don’t have a thick beard or tough stubble, but this razor still felt like an over affectionate cat trying to lick the beard away.
Oddly enough, the 4 blader from the same company works really well. I’m more likely to go to 4 than to 5. I’m still waiting on the 21 blader, code names “skull shaver”
I find the sixth blade just great for shaving under my conk
For me, using shaving soap is about three things: 1, it smells heavenly, and that’s always nice. 2, I use it with a shaving brush, which exfoliates the skin making for a closer shave, it has more water in it so the shave is smoother and I get less razor burn, and it’s very comfortable feeling. 3, the apartment I currently live in in France doesn’t have a shower head that is held up (ie, one of my hands must do the holding) so it’s not viable to shave under the shower. Since I love wet shaving, I go for the shaving soap+brush because it comes closest to that.
Also, for those of you with thick beards, I find that my safety razor uses far fewer blades and gets clocked much less quickly. Back when I had the Quattro, I could only use a head three or four times, now I use each blade six or so times before I even start feeling a difference, and because blades cost only about $0.25, I throw it out as soon as I can so that I’m always getting better shaves.
I started using the 5-blade, which shaves just fine, but it also makes an annoying *sqeaking * sound that I didn’t get with the 3-blade. Anyone else notice this?
Squeaking sound?
Nope, never heard that.
You sure you aint trying to shave with a cunningly disguised hamster
