My wife is very good friends with a product supervisor at Toyota. Over the weekend we test drove this new Sport Utility the FJ Cruiser . I was so impressed with this vehicle I signed up to be one of the first buyers in 2006. I am not a spontaneous person, and this was a stretch for even me to do, but I was so impressed I said I gotta have one!
Coming from driving my Chevy Avalanche, I am downsizing to something much more practical.
We were in Scottsdale, Arizona, when we test drove the FJ. I was amazed at the versatility, and overall driving of the vehicle. The FJ Cruiser debuted in 2003 as a concept car, it was so liked Toyota decided to go to production. I don’t mind having to wait until next winter, this is something that will probably stay with me for quite a while!
So what do you think? Love it or hate it?
By the way, if you want to test drive one, you can find selected dealers who have test models. Unfortunately, I believe it is only in selected metropolitan areas…
I have nothing against 4wds, but I think that one is really ugly. Sorry… I’m kind of partial to landcruisers. The colour of the one in the pic probably doesn’t help… what colour will yours be?
It reminds me too much of the Honda Elephant. If you ever see an Element from the front when both doors are open it looks like an elephant. Plus, when you pass them the nameplate looks like it says elephant out of the corner of your eye.
Follow Urban Chic’s link for more specs. I am getting mine in Alaskan Green, with air, 4WD and alloy wheels for around 23K. The dealer but they will be in the teens once the prices are written in stone. My wifes friend is a great guy, and he told us some of the salesman have not even driven it yet. I certainly felt lucky. It handles like a car, but had the girth and versatility of a jeep. And it’s very rugged, which I like.
Is that like an olive-y green? Or dark green? Green is nice. Either way it’s got to be better than that awful blue. You’d think they’d pick a nice colour for a demo.
A little small for what I need, but I like the idea. I’m VERY glad to see that. I hope it’s popular. It may encourage Toyota to make a 4 door V8 off road vehicle.
