“BOO ya ca sha” is what Ali G says in his Jamaican/Islamic/ambiguous character.
Is that an actual Jamaican greeting? Or did he just make it up? What does it stand for–is it Patois or an actual African greeting?
Well, “booyaka” is definitely at least present in lots of reggae, ragga, and jungle. See General Levy at 1:13 in this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awKK7I0Jevc. It’s not exactly the same, but its similar. It’s onomatopoeic for gunshots.
Ali G’s “booyakasha” is probably just a slight manipulation of booyaka.
