What does BT do in concert (these days?)

So I was walking back from a concert the other day when my eye spotted a poster for another upcoming concert at another venue. This artist being BT. The problem is he is known for just about every sort of genre of music so I don’t know what he would play in concert.

Now, the venue he will be playing at (Firestone in Orlando) is partly known as a dance club (or at least is set up so it can serve as one), so that might be a hint. However, according to the Wiki cite on BT he is not a live DJ, and the photo shows him playing an acoustic guitar and singing.

Now, I probably will not be going as the ideal possibility will probably not be happening (i.e. performing live remixes of his trancey stuff,) but I am interested in what the heck he does do in concert.

I saw BT in a smallish concert but it was 10 years ago (around his Movement in Still Life days)

He did mostly songs from Movement, but all with live instrumentation. He had a full band with him. IIRC he spent most of his time on a keyboard though he jumped around a lot. Great show, lots of energy.

Yeah, I’ve heard that he performs with a full band these days. I’m not sure how he handles all of the stutter edits that dominate his material the last couple of albums, though.

EDIT: Don’t know why I never bothered to check - BT Live clip on YouTube.

That’s positively weird if he did his Movements era stuff with a full band. I had considered listing that as an option but thought it impossible. If he were definitely to do that in concert I’d go just for the drollness (and to tell the truth it wouldn’t sound bad if the sound system were better than the Miami clip.)

Unforunately I don’t think I’ll be able to go due to other obligations though but thanks for the info :frowning:

BT is very active on Twitter (@BT) and also over on Facebook, so there’s a good chance he’ll answer your question.

I’m going to Firestone for my first concert to see BT at the concert you mention. My understanding is that it is a laptop symphony. Live editing from his laptop with mixes from his current CD “These Hopeful Machines” as well as his older stuff.

Here we go, about 9:45 in during his Macworld interview. He discusses what his concerts are like nowadays. Laptop symphony and soon to be live band.

The last time he was at Firestone he just stood behind a keyboard the whole time.
