Near the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana (Ford) and Satipo (Alfred Molina) are escaping from a tomb. Satipo demands that Indy to throw him the golden idol in exchange for Satipo tossing Indy the whip he needs to cross a pit. Indy tosses him the idol, and Satipo drops the whip and says “Adios, Amigo”. Indy jumps across the pit, and sees Satipo has been impaled by a trap, and grabs the idol, mumbling something to Satipo’s corpse in Spanish. What does he say (and what does it mean in English) ?
Sounds like he says, “Adios Satipo”. According to a couple of scripts I googled (just typed in Raiders of the lost ark script), Indy’s line is just “Adios”.
FYI, the scene is here, at about 2:50.
“marida su peda” ?
That is what it sounds like to me as well.
Listening to the clip on YouTube, it’s pretty clear to me he said “Adios Amigo”.
Another vote for “Adios, Sapito.” It parallels Sapito’s last line to Indy, “Adios, Senor.” (Don’t know how to make that squiggle above the n, sorry.)
Huh. I cranked that clip up on my big speakers, and it doesn’t sound at all like “Adios Amigo” (or Adios anything else) to me. It sounds something like “marida supeda” or somesuch.
