What does 'jreck' mean, and is it a good name for a restaurant?

In upstate New York there is a chain of fast-food sub shops named “Jreck Subs”. According to their corporate homepage (www.jrecksubs.com), the name was derived from the initials of the names of the founders.

When I went to college in Potsdam, popular rumor was that the word ‘jreck’ also meant ‘shit’ in Yiddish.

Is this true?

BTW, they make good food. I’m not knocking the chain itself, but did they really name themselves “Shit Subs”???

THe Yiddish word for shit is DRECK not jreck.

Also, have you seen This is Spinal Tap? Two words, “Shit Sandwich”.

To me it always meant Fluffy just hacked up another hairball.
