He appears to dress up in a suit every day to go to “the office,” but was it ever revealed what he actually did for a living?
He was the manager of the local PBS station.
He was a manager at a local public television station.
Zev Steinhardt
There was at least one episode where this was a plot point (it involves the station’s pledge drive).
Hee hee. The Google ads in this thread are for ties.
I can’t think of his character’s name without also thinking of what he was rechristened in the MAD Magazine parody, Stinkin’ Cheatin’.
Now it’s for ‘Infidelity recovery’.
Man, that’s funny stuff.
That’s the one where Elise goes into labor while they’re on the air, right?
[hijack]Every time Michael Gross shows up on Law and Order it seems like he did it. Now when ever I see him guest starring in any program, I automatically think, “Oh, he did it!” even if it’s not a murder show or mystery.
He’s really good at playing the bad guy.[/hijack]
There might have been two Pledge Drive episodes…I don’t remember that…ISTR this one being before she was preggers.
I remember Elise singing Greensleeves at the pledge drive and getting a contraction right on the high note. This may have been a flashback. I’m a little murky on the details.
I remember Alex trying to show one of his sisters how to time the contractions with her Duran Duran wristwatch:
“Now when the big Duran is on the twelve and the Little Duran is on the four…”
I liked the episode where Alex turned his 'rents in for growing weed in the cellar (hydroponics).
Or was that a diffferent series?
wink
Apparently I just forgot that part, since I can’t find another pledge drive episode in the episode guides I’ve found.
He’s also good at shooting giant sluglike monsters with near-infinite firearms.
I remember a pledge drive where Steve punched out his boss on air after finding out said boss made a pass at Steve’s 15-year-old daughter Mallory.
Was it his boss? I seem to remember Mallory being molested by one of her uncles at some point.
The only uncle I remember was vanilla-extract swigging, alcoholic Uncle Forrest Gump.
My favorite moment of that episode was when Alex fell to his knees and thanked God when he found out it was a boy.
I seem to remember at least one other pledge drive episode, too, but maybe I’m thinking of the College Bowl-type game where Alex got stage fright and Mallory answered all the questions wrong yet kept getting points because the judges thought she was cute.
Must … resist …
Aw, dammit.

What would you do, baby?
